Fuel Gauge not reading rightBudjr52 05-01-2008, 11:02 PM hi on my 91 lumina apv the fuel gauge reads 1/4 of a tank and I ran out of gas. a mechanic told me it is no longer reliable but yet it will bounce up past full alot then full and seems steady as it goes down. can it be a ground problem and if so where do I find the ground for this so I can attrempt to fix it..thanks...:shakehead vion 05-02-2009, 12:20 AM Hello. My 93 lumina does the same thing, empty at 1/4 tank. Sorry that I don't have a fix for you. Sure hope someone replies that will help us both. LMP 05-02-2009, 08:41 PM My '93 Transport does the same...fuel pump starts pumping air when seemingly still 1/8...I did run empty once.. I simply think the resistor track (part of FPunit) is damaged, which is quite possible with wound resistors. I simply know where the new "empty mark" is on the gauge now, and I live with it. I've no plan to drop the tank and remove the feul pump unit for that. AS long as the pump pumps....it will stay there. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
