Aveo passenger airbag lightsedmonds 04-29-2008, 05:05 PM New 2008 Aveo owner from last night actually. First thing is that the light on the SIC shows passenger airbag is off ALL the time when there is no passenger ? Is this for real, am I going to have to drive around by myself for years looking at a stupid light telling me I have no passenger ? Is there anyway to turn this light off other than carpooling ? Good Luck mcovert 05-01-2008, 07:55 AM I would venture a guess that there is a safety regulations from the Fed. Gov. that an indicator must be visable to the occupant indicating a disable airbag. I think you'll have a real hard time convincing a dealer that it needs to be disabled due to their liability and you may risk your warrenty coverage. I think the simplest thing would be a peice of black tape over the indicator. sedmonds 05-01-2008, 04:50 PM I'm not sure on any Federal stuff, but I know the new Scion XD (wife is buying that car today) the airbag light comes on to tell you that it's ON, and not light when it's off. It's not that bad during the day, but at night that orange light is SO bright it really is annoying. Guess that is what black tape was invented for. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
