Oil Pressure Gauge Hook-upstaholdn 10-16-2001, 08:43 PM How do I install a mechanical oil pressure gauge. I think I found the sending unit (right above oil filter) but how does it fit???? I know of none commercially available however. A friend made one for me, but he has no more. The OEM oil pressure switch is 1/8 BSPT threads. The aftermarket gauge sending units are 1/8 NPT threads. They are no compatible, although some people just cross thread the 1/8 NPT into the 1/8 BSPT (I don't recommend doing this). Best bet is to find a machine shop that will make you one cheap. You need and adapter with a male 1/8 BPST on one end and a femail 1/8 BSPT on the other end. T'd into it should be the female 1/8 NPT.
