Looks great! /Joel colbro1973 04-23-2008, 02:53 AM looking fab there, one question, did you use microsol on foil number decal, I think when I made this model I did, and it gave the foil a crackle effect, it was either that or the clear I used, can't remember which, did you have any probs? slk320 04-23-2008, 11:14 AM It was the clear ;) Microsol work abolutely flawlessly, but the clear (Tamiya) made the chrome decal crack. slk320 04-23-2008, 09:40 PM small updates: more bodywork http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0090.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0091.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0092.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0095.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0096.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0097.jpg more cf bits http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0094.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0093.jpg The stand. looks good enough without having to buy the PE set from Tamiya http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0098.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0099.jpg Exhaust http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0100.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0101.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0102.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0103.jpg airbox - not finished, still have to smoke it and clear it http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0104.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0106.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0108.jpg thanks for looking slk320 04-24-2008, 11:09 PM Another update...I love these quick almost box stock builds! http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0109.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0110.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0111.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0112.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0113.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0114.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0115.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0117.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0118.jpg don't know if anyone is watching...but here it is anyway. thanks. joelwideqvist 04-25-2008, 03:27 AM Of course we're watching. Super CF and great progress. Did you clear the metallic numbering? Could get you trouble as they sometimes crack. It's better to clear parts with all the other decals and then apply the metallic numbering. But, if you cleared them there is a good chance they will stand it anyhow. This bike is SO good looking. I can tell you it looks great beside the test version also, yummie. /Joel colbro1973 04-25-2008, 04:01 AM Hi, regarding this chrome decal issue, does anybody know any clears that don't crack them, I use Mr hobby clear, as yet I have not tried this over chrome decals, but as my next build will be the LCR hionda, which has quite a few chrome decals I would be keen to find out!! also Can anyone clarify for sure that microsol also does not damage chrome decals! by the way your bike is looking great there, lovely shine and fab cf work, I know from experience that mudguard is an awkward shape to cf, did you use one piece or join together? Cheers Col slk320 04-25-2008, 10:19 AM Hi, regarding this chrome decal issue, does anybody know any clears that don't crack them, I use Mr hobby clear, as yet I have not tried this over chrome decals, but as my next build will be the LCR hionda, which has quite a few chrome decals I would be keen to find out!! also Can anyone clarify for sure that microsol also does not damage chrome decals! by the way your bike is looking great there, lovely shine and fab cf work, I know from experience that mudguard is an awkward shape to cf, did you use one piece or join together? Cheers Col Yep - used one piece of CF for the rear hugger. As for MicroSol - I used loads of MicroSol and MicroSet on this one and no damage to the chrome decals at all. Damage (spidering) came as a result of clear coating using Tamiya clear. It is not really all that visible though. slk320 04-28-2008, 09:25 PM Update: front forks http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0250.jpg radiator http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0251.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0252.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0254.jpg remaining cowling http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0255.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0256.jpg Brakes - note the forks are not Tamiya upgraded items - just painted rear clip - the brake disc is hand drilled http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0259.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0260.jpg slk320 04-29-2008, 11:08 PM HAHA well, no one is saying anything, so here is another update - for those that are watching. buttoned up the front end http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0261.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0262.jpg all thats left is the brake lines. rear clip - chain and shock - all kit items http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0263.jpg front airbox/electronics - what a giant pain to decal...but I need practice for my next superdetail build of this bike. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0265.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0266.jpg speedo http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Ducati%20Pramac/IMG_0267.jpg ketje 04-30-2008, 06:52 AM The carbon looks good. Did you make some masks before putting on the carbon? slk320 04-30-2008, 10:22 AM not really, I just lay out a big piece and work a lot of microsol and hairdryer into it. slk320 05-04-2008, 07:21 PM a small update - its almost finished now http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/IMG_0268.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/IMG_0269.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/IMG_0272.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/IMG_0273.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/IMG_0274.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/IMG_0271.jpg This one almost looks like a real bike: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/IMG_0275.jpg sportracer02 05-05-2008, 01:39 AM Looks cool, nice work on the CF-decals. What did you use for the flocking of the seat? swano 05-05-2008, 09:11 AM this makes me want to throw my ducati against a wall... i love the forks, ou'd never pick that they weren't tamiya detail items. im glad to see im not the only one who doesnt make up masks for the C/F decals :grinyes: slk320 05-05-2008, 11:03 AM Thanks everyone! Micha - I use regular fine Detail master black carpet flocking, which I think in 1/12 scale seat looks much better than on 1/24 scale cars.
