View Full Version : 1/20 Tyrrell P34 Monaco Six-wheeler 1/20 Tyrrell P34 Monaco Six-wheeler Rickard_Olsson 04-20-2008, 03:10 PM Itīs the Tamiya Tyrrell P34 Monaco six-wheeler. Itīs a really nice kit and I really love the way it looks.. I mean.. SIX WHEELS !?!?!? For those who ainīt familiar with this one.. Well.. It was raced in the Formula 1 back in the 1970īs and in 1976 it made itīs debut and it was a great car I think.. :) in 1977 Tyrrell continued with the six-wheeler with good results.. but after the 1977 season Good Year decided that they wouldnīt be developing new tires for the six-wheeler and that forced Tyrrell to start driving with 4 wheels again. So for 2 seasons in the Formula 1 we saw the most spectacular F1-racer ever. :) And now.. the scaled down version. The wheels are about 99% finished. :) http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm221/Rickard_Olsson_89/IMG_5841.jpg The engine is starting to shape up too.. :) http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm221/Rickard_Olsson_89/IMG_5846.jpg http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm221/Rickard_Olsson_89/IMG_5855.jpg I also opened up the front to make it a bit more detailed. :) http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm221/Rickard_Olsson_89/IMG_5858.jpg I have also worked on a new brake-duct system which I think will turn out great when itīs finished. :) http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm221/Rickard_Olsson_89/IMG_5860.jpg http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm221/Rickard_Olsson_89/IMG_5864.jpg And a small mock-up :) http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm221/Rickard_Olsson_89/IMG_5871.jpg Hope you like it so far :) // Rickard stevenoble 04-20-2008, 03:17 PM Good start. This is one of many in my 'to do' pile, so I will watch closely...:evillol: davezilla 04-20-2008, 07:23 PM Looks excellent so far. I think you did a very clean job on the engine and painting the tire markings. That kit must've been made before dry transfer decals. What blue did you use for the body? I have the all blue version in my pile, is it the same color? jehan 04-21-2008, 12:02 AM Realy nice work so far, keep it coming. A very interesting car, the main reason for the four small wheels was not for handeling per say but it really made a differencs in the braking distances with the increased contact patches. Smaller tyres also helped cut down drag. If I'm not wrong I think the tyres came for sets used on Mini Coopers but Goodyear was not willing to develop them any farther eventually cutting down any advantage. DerXL 04-21-2008, 12:35 PM Hi. Nice start to this model. I'm really curious how the brake ducts are going to work out. Start looks promising. Are you going to cover the coils/cables or are you going to leave it as in the picture ? I havenīt painted the blue yet.. but when I do I will probably go for the one Tamiya is saying - TS15 - Blue. The all blue version is a bit darker IN MY OPINION.. may be wrong.. and my eyes ainīt the best.. but to me itīs a tad darker than the white/blue one. Rickard_Olsson 04-21-2008, 01:57 PM Hi. Iīm going to cover it up in some sort of BMF and the paint it flat orange to make it look like the real ones. ;) Thanks :) // Rickard allnie 04-21-2008, 02:22 PM Iīm going to cover it up in some sort of BMF and the paint it flat orange to make it look like the real ones. ;) Thanks :) // Rickard The best trick is to use some white glue (like paper or tree glue) to fill-up the gaps. Done in the right way it looks VERY good.:grinyes: Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com! Registration is absolutely free. |
