Water Wetter Anyone?DonSor 04-20-2008, 01:02 PM Anyone have any experience with Water Wetter? It claims to lower engine operating temperature by as much as 30 degrees F. I'd like to see a scientific report regarding the effectiveness of this product. In the first place, if the engine cooling system works as it should, why try lowering the engine operating temperature. From what I know the engine operates efficiently at around 200-210 degrees F. The thermostat opens at 195F. A small bottle of Redline Water Wetter is around $7.50 and I understand it smells awful. Some people use this stuff to compensate for an overheating engine caused by a malfunctioning cooling system or other engine problems. toddler62 04-22-2008, 07:56 AM sounds like a good way to possibly hurt an engine by running it cooler than it was designed to run Doug Rodrigues 10-11-2009, 01:48 AM Sounds like a waste of money to me. If the temperature drops, the thermostat will close to raise the temperature to normal operating temperature. Make 'em Last 11-20-2009, 09:39 AM There are several good discussions on this topic at "BOB IS THE OIL GUY" forum - I searched for "Water Wetter". My radiator repairman has spent years trying to teach me not to put ANYTHING ELSE in the 50/50 coolant & water mixture. He claims tap water is fine, but I always use distilled. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
