KPGC110 RB26 swap (1/24)Mister_S13_2 04-19-2008, 10:59 AM hi, i havent had a WIP for a while here, so its good to posting again, im putting my toyotas on hold for a while, while i build an old school GTR for a model convention on august. they are expecting this event to be HUUUUGe, so i figured i best build something a bit cooler then usual, i knew i wanted engine detail, and a car thats quite popular, my first thought was the tamiya supra, but naaahm i hadnt done the kit before and i want this to be my best, then i thought of the R32 kit, ive built it twice before and its a great kit, with reasonable detail, but how many tamiya R32's do you reckon will be there? a fair few ill bet,so i then tohught, hey, what about a retro-style engine swap, i was keen to put a 2JZ into a 2000GT, but after realising the time that would take, and the skill, ive decided to buil a 1970 2000GTR hardtop(KPGC110) with RB26 single turbo conversion, i aim to keep the exterior true to the original car, with only ride height altered, and a nice set of watanabes. howerver, the eingine, ive grabbed some photos of Rb26's, which are not in short suply on the internet, and im going to loosely base this on a full house, top-secret version, i want it to have a nice big turbo(im not worried about the lag) and im very anti chrome, so no chrome, keeping it simple. i dont have any pictures up just yet, i havent started, i will start later tonight with the RB26, the KPGC110 kit is on its way here from america still. i hope this intrests you,:iceslolan comments, ideas, anything, welcome Mister_S13_2 04-20-2008, 03:01 AM ok here are some quick progress pics of an all-nighter last night on the RB26, this is it sitting in the engine bay of my old KPGC10 model( the one its actually going in will be gloss black, and alot better) te turbo is not sitting in its final position, its just sitting there to get some idea of the space i have to pla with, NOT MUCH! considering i still have to find room for a radiator, intercooler and plumbing! but hopefully you can see what im envisioning here. :feedback: http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l277/The_St_jimmy/retroGTR003.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l277/The_St_jimmy/retroGTR004.jpg Maxi Taxi 04-20-2008, 04:20 AM Whoa, Awesome! I love the old KPGC10s. Can't wait to see the completed model. :) i luv drift 04-20-2008, 07:07 AM That is sick! Nice turbo. This is what I want to do with my KPGC10 but I don't want to waste a GTR32 kit just for the motor, is that what you had to do? Anyway, nice work! Mister_S13_2 04-20-2008, 02:35 PM Yeh, i had to buy a tamiya GTR kit, luckily for me, a while ago i built an R32, the engin in it was ok, but i ruined the paint job a bit, so im going to put the body of the wasted GTR kit on my old model, but yes, i wasent keen on seeing it go to waste. i luv drift 04-20-2008, 09:53 PM And another question, how did you manage to bend the pipe so perfectly for the turbo? I tried this once with plastic but it came out like s***. Is that metal piping? Mister_S13_2 04-21-2008, 06:01 AM umm yup its kinda metal, its Actually solder so it bends easily Mister_S13_2 11-18-2008, 03:57 AM D: !niaga gniledom eb ot doog sti dna ho xnaht D: kniht ay tahw em llet ,scip emos daolpu ot tuoba mi !!!enod sti tub, etadpu tsal eht ecnis shtnom6 nib sti ,dehsinif yllanif si siht!!!lla yeh Mister_S13_2 11-18-2008, 04:23 AM oh dear! my computer had a glitch and made everything type backwards!, anyways, no matter, hey all!! its bin ages since ive been online, i had a bit of a break from modeling, but anyway, back, and this one is finished(finally!!) here are some pics, if anyone remembers this thread and bothers looking, thank you!!! hope you like it!! tell me what ya think peoplez! this is the most ambitious model ive ever made, and i have to say, i think its my best, but give me your opinion, anyway, ciao for now! http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq154/TRD184/jamesphotos056.jpg http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq154/TRD184/jamesphotos058.jpg http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq154/TRD184/jamesphotos057.jpg http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq154/TRD184/jamesphotos063.jpg http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq154/TRD184/jamesphotos068.jpg http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq154/TRD184/jamesphotos069.jpg i luv drift 11-29-2008, 08:59 PM That looks so cool :smokin: Thats exactly what I want to do but to me buying an R32 kit just for the motor is a waste.
