WIP Ferrari 365GTS/4Tervo 04-17-2008, 03:08 PM Since there seems to be another Daytona in progres, I'd better to show my current project. Started it in the end of February, after my Modena was completed, so I'm somewhere near to completion now. The kit is Fujimi's EM-series, bought some twenty years ago, but was left untouched into my stash when I quitted the hobby. Now it has got itīs second chance. The interior is almost done. Body is painted (Zero Giallo Fly), and got 2K clear this evening. Still waiting some polishing, BMF and some bits and pieces. So here some photos, where I am now: http://koti.welho.com/tsalmin6/Mallit/Projektit/Ferrari%20365GTS/slides/IMG_3455.jpg http://koti.welho.com/tsalmin6/Mallit/Projektit/Ferrari%20365GTS/slides/IMG_3693.jpg http://koti.welho.com/tsalmin6/Mallit/Projektit/Ferrari%20365GTS/slides/IMG_3714.jpg http://koti.welho.com/tsalmin6/Mallit/Projektit/Ferrari%20365GTS/slides/IMG_3715.jpg http://koti.welho.com/tsalmin6/Mallit/Projektit/Ferrari%20365GTS/slides/IMG_3712.jpg rockinanko 04-17-2008, 03:29 PM Ah... it's always nice to see fujimi EM series build, still the best in parts count & accuracy! first thing first, are you gonna build the common pop-up headlights or the other sealed beam version?? i hope you can show us the latter type...since only fujimi kit supply both versions. have fun!:grinno: marc SGP Tervo 04-17-2008, 03:50 PM Ah... it's always nice to see fujimi EM series build, still the best in parts count & accuracy! first thing first, are you gonna build the common pop-up headlights or the other sealed beam version?? i hope you can show us the latter type...since only fujimi kit supply both versions. have fun!:grinno: marc SGP Oh my, that's a question that I hadn't thought before! As a matter of fact I hadn't noticed those parts marked as not for use, untill you mentioned it. Yeah, it seem I could have built the sealed beams version, but think it is a little bit late now, since I have painted the body. So, I'm sorry to dissapoint you, but this is going to have those pop-up lights. rockinanko 04-17-2008, 03:57 PM Oh my, that's a question that I hadn't thought before! As a matter of fact I hadn't noticed those parts marked as not for use, untill you mentioned it. No problem bro, as long as you still have those parts...keep them! and if you come across some cheap daytona kits, grab one & use those parts on the new kit with just some simple mod! viola! you have 2 different version sitting in your display! nothing is wasted in the 1/24 ferrari modeling world!!! just ask my 10lbs+ ferrari parts stash here... hehe... marc SGP klutz_100 04-17-2008, 04:18 PM So, I'm sorry to dissapoint you, but this is going to have those pop-up lights. Have you done a test fit yet? The fitted like a round peg in a square hole in mine :( Like the yellow color! Tervo 04-17-2008, 04:22 PM Have you done a test fit yet? The fitted like a round peg in a square hole in mine :( Like the yellow color! No big problems. You're sure you didn't confuse left from right? :grinyes: rockinanko 04-17-2008, 04:25 PM Have you done a test fit yet? The fitted like a round peg in a square hole in mine ah yeah, i think i did come across the headlights fit for the EM some 10 years ago... it's oversize & not flush right? sanding down the headlight assembly might solve the problem...can it? marc:smokin: SGP rockinanko 04-17-2008, 04:57 PM gee, my curiosity gets the better of my sleeping time! ok, i've located a EM spare headlight assembly & tried the fitting myself... http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z217/sbc3133r/day1.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z217/sbc3133r/day2.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z217/sbc3133r/day3.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z217/sbc3133r/day4.jpg yes, initial dry-fitting proves the top panel is slightly oversized. i sanded down the sides slightly & it fits good! then comes the light holder, i have to position the holder exactly at the center of the top panel in order to get the whole assembly sit nicely into the car body... yes, getting the holder glued exactly at the center of the panel can be tricky, there's some free play! hopes this helps... marc SGP BVC500 04-17-2008, 10:29 PM Oh, I have plenty of extra parts for this kit if you need them. Tervo 04-18-2008, 11:54 AM Thanks for your warning, Marc! I suspected that there would be some trickery with the headlights. Fortunately they are so small, repainting them will not be a headache, if I have to adjust them by sanding. And to BVC500, wish I had known this a couple of months ago, since I was missing the cylinder heads of this kit, fortunately found them from a Finnish modeller. Tervo 04-20-2008, 05:23 AM Little progress, I finished the underside of the hood, painted with a mix of Barley grey and aluminium. The model was very near to catastrophe, I was lazy enough to paint the inside of engine room without masking all the body (stupid me). The result was some black mist at the rear end of body! Fortunately I was able to remove it with some rubbing compound. http://koti.welho.com/tsalmin6/Mallit/Projektit/Ferrari%20365GTS/slides/IMG_3720.jpg Tervo 04-22-2008, 01:54 PM Once again, little progress (I'm not a very fast builder). Foiled the windscreen frames. Man, I allready hate foiling, even though this is the first time I have used BMF! Now I'm glueing the windscreen with five minute epoxy. Have to do it in three phases, because of that bent side window frame. The frame was bent during those inactive years, when the box was laying forgotten in some closet. http://koti.welho.com/tsalmin6/Mallit/Projektit/Ferrari%20365GTS/slides/IMG_3723.jpg BVC500 04-22-2008, 06:18 PM Looking good in yellow! Tervo 04-24-2008, 02:18 PM Please, anybody got a picture of those pop-up lights in up-position? References show them only down, and it seems that the front was painted the body color. How about the rest of the light housing? Was it black plastic or was it too painted? COZMO6476 04-24-2008, 08:48 PM This is looking pretty sharp! good luck on the headlights. great work so far on the enterior and on the hood. i really like the detail Tervo 04-30-2008, 11:34 AM Before proceeding to May Day celebration and following hang-over, I had to fit the body and the frame together. No major problems, needs some adjustment before applying glue. For the headlights I got a link from nniemi to a picture which confirmed that the headlight unit was painted with body color all over. http://koti.welho.com/tsalmin6/Mallit/Projektit/Ferrari%20365GTS/slides/IMG_3732.jpg http://koti.welho.com/tsalmin6/Mallit/Projektit/Ferrari%20365GTS/slides/IMG_3736.jpg stryfe101 05-01-2008, 12:05 AM Hey Tervo, its looking great! these kits are a nice challenge to build aren't they? After building the engine and chassis of mine I'd say its a bit easier than the em 911s... Anyway your doing the kit some justice, and the yellow paint looks quite good on it. I guess I need to get back on mine to give you some friendly "competition"..just kidding... good luck with the rest of the build. Gray druid_99 05-04-2008, 08:46 PM Good progress there and the yellow looks good. Keep up the good work. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
