97 Grand AM GT 2 door electric windows

When the ignition switch is turned to the on or start position the driver side window opens a inch sometimes more without the window switch being touched. I have done the search and have not come across any situation like this. I am thinking the switch itself is the culpert, I plan on spraying switch with electrical contact cleaner first to see if that works. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks for any input in advance

Its the switch, I'd try removing it and cleaning it out and make sure the plug in is making proper contact on all terminals. Also check the wires in the hinge area(inside the rubber boot), they can crack and short out sometimes.

If that all resolve your issues you'll probly have to replace the switch. A used one might be worth a try.

Ok I took the panel off the door today and checked for voltage to the motor. I had like 11.65V when I moved the switch to the upward position and nothing at the downward position. Same thing when I took the electrical connector off the motor itself. That tells me that the switch bad. I also took switch apart and tryed cleaning contacts with a fine sand paper but didn't help. Only thing I forgot to check was power at the connector on the switches. I will try a salvage yard for switch.
