Toyota AE86 Levin 1600GT APEX-Fujimi 1/24 WIP. (Many Pics)Souplaman 04-15-2008, 05:18 AM Hey all, After many years i decided to restart modelism. So i choose the following kit to re entry in scale modelling! http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/1410/img0002xp2.jpg Here are the parts from the box http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/2097/img0003gm0.jpg I used some spare disc brakes from older models and reshaped them in order to fit the rims. http://img209.imageshack.us/img209/124/img0007iz7.jpg http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/5150/img0011hh9.jpg A little progress with painting the discs, the rims and the front suspension. http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/2135/img0005qj3.jpg I decided to place different rims in the back with different tires, so i used the BBS for the rear. http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/5007/img0007jw6.jpg A prefit on the chasis. http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/4286/img0008vn0.jpg And for the last, i dremelled the tires cause i might put the Levin in a diorama probably  http://img122.imageshack.us/img122/9893/img0006wr7.jpg Souplaman 04-15-2008, 05:19 AM The exhaust system...well this is the exhaust that the kit provides: http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/7201/001ex7.jpg Of course it sucked, so i tried to make a new from scratch. I dremelled the undercarriage in order for the new exhaust to fit: http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/1743/003dr1.jpg Then, i cut a piece of plastic tube from the kit and i bended: http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/8853/004us4.jpg http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/3228/005ho9.jpg Then i made the last part from steel tube and the muffler from a steel tuber of a bigger diameter: http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/284/006ww5.jpg http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/2725/007fu5.jpg http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/4007/009oa5.jpg Here is some pre-fitting so to have a general view: http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/8399/010ce3.jpg http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/9484/012zx0.jpg http://img395.imageshack.us/img395/9518/014tj3.jpg And i started pre-fitting some parts to the interior like, Recaro backet, fire extinguisher, and maybe a NOS bottle! http://img369.imageshack.us/img369/7049/016se0.jpg Souplaman 04-15-2008, 05:20 AM I've painted the front rims with Metallic Black: http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/4928/img0006io2.jpg here paired with the back rims: http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/7360/img0007dl3.jpg I've painted the exhaust with Metallic Aluminium: http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/1036/img0004sj9.jpg and i will make the titanium burns using the Tamiya weathering kit: http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/3796/img0009pw4.jpg Here i tried to make a look like Nardi steering wheel: http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/6010/img0003eo5.jpg And i continued with the interior. This is a pre-fit. It will be empty, with racing fuel tank, ecu controller, hydralic handbrake, half rollcage with foams. http://img362.imageshack.us/img362/1890/img0001ea3.jpg http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/552/img0002wk7.jpg Souplaman 04-15-2008, 05:21 AM A wide arch body kit and some eteched and decals: http://img510.imageshack.us/img510/8224/img0008to8.jpg http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/2589/img0009xk8.jpg After measurments and prefitings it turned like this: http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/1917/img0010hg3.jpg http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/2863/img0011du8.jpg http://img182.imageshack.us/img182/6899/img0012mq5.jpg http://img371.imageshack.us/img371/8397/img0013ag6.jpg Souplaman 04-15-2008, 05:22 AM After some measurements, i fixed the side of the wide kit http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/1761/img0007op6.jpg http://img399.imageshack.us/img399/6748/img0008ah2.jpg Then a lot putty work http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/9720/img0009rt5.jpg http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/14/img0010ny1.jpg and lastly major sanding in order to smooth the area http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/4903/img0012yu3.jpg http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/9426/img0013tg7.jpg Thats for now! Hope you like it! Thanx for your time! Soon update! Ps. I've just realized that the post is in the wrong section...please mod remove it to WIP section...sorry... Honoturtle 04-18-2008, 10:03 PM Cool AE86... but now I think you need wider rims! =D Souplaman 04-23-2008, 03:07 AM Thank you Honoturtle! Well some little progress from the hachi. I painted the undercarriage and made my first try to weather it...so be gentle!!! Here is the outcome: http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/5792/img0015we3.jpg http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/8854/img0018rq1.jpg Then some from the intirerior: http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/3430/img0017ll3.jpg That's for now, hope you like it! Any advice is very welcome! Thank you for your time :bigthumb: hiergehts 04-25-2008, 10:52 PM Honoturtles right about those fender flares - they make the existing wheels look a bit on the narrow side.. :banghead: I've used aluminum tubing to 'fabricate' exhaust parts like this Opel downpipe. It's much easier to bend then copper + is already a realistic metal shade to begin with. http://www.axiomgraphica.com/a/gtdownpipe.jpg HTH Andrew blazed_racer 04-28-2008, 07:04 AM chassis and interior work looooking gooooood! :sunglasse:sunglasse:sunglasse:sunglasse:sunglasse :sunglasse Souplaman 05-06-2008, 07:04 AM A little update after a while  Starting with the interior its getting done almost... I've painted the rollcage gold and then i've washed it with some light silver and added some foam pads: http://img370.imageshack.us/img370/6678/img0171hu1.jpg http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/7103/img0172df3.jpg Then i've attached the custom exhaust and washed it with black painting oil in order not to shine and the i will make the titanium effect in the muffler: http://img371.imageshack.us/img371/3162/img0174fj8.jpg http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/9453/img0176co4.jpg The sequel of the "Putty Thriller" conitnues with lot of sanding and adding the wing. Here is a dry fit: http://img376.imageshack.us/img376/1112/img0177ub8.jpg http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/3862/img0178uy6.jpg And lastly a little try with the Dorifto:lol: for the diorama that im gonna make  (hopefully!) http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/5705/img0180ur0.jpg http://img369.imageshack.us/img369/3138/img0181pa7.jpg Thats for now! thank you for your time :bigthumb: white_R34 05-06-2008, 01:52 PM I know it's said that if you don't have any thing good to say about some one's build just say nothing "but", I like the start every thing was going smooth till you added those Huge flairs. You do need deeper wheels to keep the flairs from looking so huge. (But if that is the look that you are tring to get I can go with that.)The figure need only two things done if you cut off the frount of both feet up to it's ankle's at an angel to bend the feet flat and fill in the gap with putty. You will realy make the man look as if he is leaning aginst the auto. But If my comments make you mad I'm sorry, can't wate till the end. Mister_S13_2 05-06-2008, 08:09 PM Those massive flares remind me of the AE86 keichi tsuchiya used to race. looks great! Thats one of the reasons im posting...to get comments and make things better! I wanted to try these flairs...but you are right that these wheels are looking small...so either i will extend the arches or i will fit deep dish rims. Also thank you a lot about the tip for the figure! Soon im gonna update! Mister_S13_2: Thank you for your comment! Dexter21 05-07-2008, 07:07 PM ...looking really good... Souplaman 05-08-2008, 06:12 AM ...looking really good... Thank you mate!! Souplaman 05-16-2008, 03:16 AM After some primering-sanding, i've painted the Hachi with mat black! I think it looks mean  I'm resizing some pics in order to print some custom decals. Here have a look of the moch up: http://img519.imageshack.us/img519/8559/img0180ce3.jpg http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/1214/img0181oh5.jpg http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/6052/img0182wq1.jpg http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/7986/img0187gv6.jpg Thank you for your time :bigthumb: danone3001 05-16-2008, 02:54 PM Souplaman 05-22-2008, 02:48 AM i suggest you visit this site... http://pcman.dion.jp/link/puramoderu.html cheers.... The link doesnt work  I put a carbon decal on the hood and then i used a humbrol decal fix...but as you can see it left some kind of dirt....any ideas of how to clean it???Please help.... http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/8175/img0002en0.jpg http://img101.imageshack.us/img101/2921/img0003db1.jpg Then i fixed the "Dori-Dori"! He needs some putty and sanding before painting. I had a crazy idea..to make him smoke after the touge run  So i cut out a little piece of cable and after some "micro-surgery" i fitted it on his hand. What do you think? Is the size of the cigar right considering the scale? http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/4562/img0004hj4.jpg http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/2419/img0005xz8.jpg http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/6940/img0006mq3.jpg Thank you for your time! Hope you like it! kaho 05-22-2008, 04:26 AM Looks much better with the wide wheels! Add a moderately large spoiler and it will look like a rally car! One thing from the picture though, are the rear wheels leaning the wrong side? It looks like positive camber. Are the dirt underneath the decal? If so, there arent really much fix to it besides removing the decal, wash the entire body, and put on a new one. Doing any work on the bare decal will just damage it more. About the figure, maybe you could cut the cigarette a little shorter so it looks like it he has been smoking on it for a few seconds already, also, how about modifying his right hand to have it in his pocket? I think it would make him look more natural. Dexter21 05-23-2008, 02:09 PM Cool work , keep it up!!! tonioseven 05-23-2008, 06:39 PM Try wiping the decal with a damp cloth and see if that removes the residue. Great work so far on this! :) Souplaman 05-28-2008, 03:07 AM Hey again At last my first model after so many years is ready! Well it has many mistakes and but i've learned a lot from it! I dont think that im gonna make a dio for this regarding all these mistakes... http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/9920/img0009ur5.jpg http://img380.imageshack.us/img380/7200/img0010wz8.jpg http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/5427/img0012rw0.jpg http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/1223/img0013hm8.jpg http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/4384/img0014pe5.jpg Thank you for your time and your support!
