96 Achieva Tire Pressure?

The fine gentlemen at the insurance company's preferred auto-body shop neglected to replace the tire pressure sticker when they replaced the door. Does anyone have the proper inflation pressure for a 1996 Oldsmobile Achieva SC 2.4L? I tried some Google searches, without luck.

Hey Russ, the sticker on the door is realy irrelavent , look at the tire for the pressure min/max limits.

Usualy 32-35 psi is plenty.

Yeah, that's what I've been doing for the last year, until I was bombarded by news articles that said proper tire pressure can improve gas mileage (and with gas headed up around $3.50/gal, I'm saving every drop I can). I thought, what the heck? I might as well find out what the right number is, how hard could it be? When I was out looking for the "proper" tire pressure, I ran across these:

The pounds per square inch (psi) pressure number branded on the tire's sidewall identifies the maximum cold inflation pressure that specific tire is rated to hold. However, the tire's maximum pressure is not necessarily the correct pressure for every vehicle upon which the tire can be used (almost all vehicle manufacturers' recommended tire inflation pressures are less than the tires' maximum pressure).
Therefore when checking and adjusting tire inflation pressures, the "right" inflation pressures are those provided by the vehicle manufacturer, not the "maximum" inflation pressure branded on the tire's sidewall. If you don't know the proper inflation air pressure for your tires, what do you do?

Easy. Check at one of the following places on your vehicle:

* In the vehicle owners manual.
* On the vehicle's door jamb. (Often, a vehicle information placard is located on the door jamb along with the recommended tire inflation pressure.)
* Inside the fuel hatch filler flap. (In some vehicles.)
* The glove compartment door. (In some vehicles.)
o But NOT on the tire. The inflation pressure shown on the tire sidewall is only the maximum tire inflation pressure. In most situations, the vehicle manufacturers recommended tire inflation pressure is shown on the vehicle placard.
Same kind of thing from goodyear, edmunds, the car talk guys, and howstuffworks.com. Searching "proper tire pressure achieva 1996" yields lots of sites like that, but of course none of them actually have the info. It's like its some kind of secret. Well, it doesn't matter. There's a few junk yards around here, and I was going to go in search of a replacement for the electric mirror adjustment joystick anyway (rather than actually get the right one, the insurance co's body shop glued the wrong model in place, glue held for about a month). If I can find a '96 Achieva, I'll copy the info. Just seems crazy that with all the info out on the web, that's so hard to find! Until then, I'll keep up the 33lbs I've been using, unless someone knows it.
