Clear adds extra depth to the body color. Real cars are treated with clear coat, too. I believe the NSX has seven layers of paint, starting from primer, base color, body color and clear. Some are double layered.

Some paint messes up decals, when sprayed heavily, so first few coats should be extremely light, almost mist-like, to build a protecting layer.

Testor Gloss Coat, Gunze Mr. Color Spray, Tamiya Spray and Dupli-Color are the spray cans that I know of.

i airbrush the clearcoat all my cars wiyh Tamiya x22 clear acryl. never had a prob with paint or decals. but be carefull as a mate used tamiya clear spray on a kit and it cracked all over. The x22 clear does not effect enamel, acryl or any other paint ive used. I even tried a white knight acryl clear on a kit yesterday it has cover okay with a light orange peal, haven't sanded or polished yet.
