I replaced the bottom rad hose on my van last weekend. Also did the whole front suspension so I'm feeling more like mechanic than my regular job. Anyway, The metal tube which leads to the bottom rad hose is quite rusted. I'm thinking that it comes right off the water pump which I know is a total PITA to change. Is this pipe replaceable? I haven't done any research in this and am hoping someone can provide some advice.

Since no one else has shown up...

I haven't done a Windstar water pump - but I replaced a water pump in a '96 Mustang 3.8, which is the same basic engine in a RWD application.

While I don't know for sure if the water pumps are the same in these two applications, here's a picture of the pump:

The outlet pipe of this pump is part of the water pump casting, so can't be replaced by itself.

Thanks Phil! I really hope that I don't have to replace my water pump as it looks like a really bad job, lifting the motor.... I'm going to hope that the hose clamp was a bit loose and it'll hold better now that I've tightened it up.

I've seen rust on water pump outlet pipes in the past - but it's always been surface corrosion; nothing to worry about.

That pipe is replaceable. It has an o-ring as a keeper. I replaced the o-ring as part of my engine overhaul.
