I just received a 1988 300E car as a gift. When you open the door the headlights and tail lights start flashing, and continue for about a minute. The horn doesn't sound. What could this be. My husband was wiping down the inside of the car. And I thought he may have moved one of the controls, but I've pushed all of them and it doesnt stop. When you put in the ignition key and start the car, it still continues for about a minute. Anyone have any ideas??

do the lights on the mirror light too?

the clockspring sounds like its bad.

No lights in mirror its an 88'. Under the passenger carpet right were you rest your feet,there is a panel you can pull out. Under that panel are the relay for the car alarm. Try pulling it out and see if it still flashes the light.

close the doors lock the car then unlock that should stop it if you want the alarm to work properly with the horn (dunno why you would though) take it to the shop might be the relay maybe something else
