99 Camry Mass Air Flow Sensorwildwilly49 04-05-2008, 09:19 PM 1999 CAMRY MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE IT IS LOCATED? I HAVE A REPAIR MANUAL BUT IT IS NOT VERY GOOD. I SEEM TO HAVE FOUND ALL THE OTHER SENSORS UNDER THE HOOD, EXCEPT THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR.:evillol: Brian R. 04-05-2008, 10:52 PM If you have a V6, the MAF meter is in the inlet tube next to the airbox with the air filter. If you have an I4, you don't have a MAF meter. You have a MAP sensor which is in the manifold, just above the air inlet tube. Download the appropriate service manual from the link in the sticky thread at the top of this forum. emillion76 04-08-2008, 06:50 AM Follow the air filter box here is a link: emillion76 04-08-2008, 06:58 AM emillion76 04-08-2008, 07:10 AM These mass air flow sensors go bad quite fast on Toyota and Lexus.New they can cost from $150-$250.But you can buy a used one on ebay or at the junk yard for around $30-80.When this goes bad the car runs nasty especially when accelerating.Check engine light also comes on and off.I had to change my sister's off a 02 Camry 2 months ago and just changed mine on a 1999 Lexus ES300.Please ask if further questions. VWest 08-08-2009, 02:04 AM I have a 1993 Camry with V6. The symptoms were that it would hesitate when accelerating from a dead stop when at idle. I removed the MAF air flow sensor housing for inspection and noted that grease and dirt were present throughout the intake port of the MAF and throughout the intake hose. Note that the actual air flow sensor is located in a bypass chamber adjacent to the main intake port. There is a screw adjustment located at the top of the MAF sensor housing that regulates the amount of air that is bypassed through the bypass chamber. I flushed the entire bypass channel with isopropyl alchohol, pouring it into the bypass chamber and then shaking the MAF sensor so that the sensor was entirely flushed. After reinstalling the MAF sensor, I verified that the hestiation issue was resolved. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
