Propeller shaft - too much grease?

I greased my propeller shaft on my 04 xterra today. I didn't really know what I was doing but read all the threads I could find on it, went and bought the right grease, a grease gun, and a needle fitting and gave it a shot.

The problem is I just kept pumping the grease not really knowing when to stop. It turns out that I must have put too much in because when I realized after a little while that new grease was squeezing out of a small hole on the front end of the shaft. Does anyone know if I damaged something or is that hole there precisely to handle dumb moves like mine and release excess grease pressure?

Thanks for any help!

Nope, the usual procedure for most any fitting is to cram grease in until it comes out somewhere else.
