Are you saying that you put a coat of silver down, and then the dark blue on the body panels? Ive got a motorcycle kit Im working on, thats painted Telefonica Blue, and am having a lot of trouble w/ the paint not being consistent. Some places appear to be slightly lighter/darker than other areas. Im concidering right now, stripping the paint off, and repainting it. Just wondering if there's something that would help the color be more even.

yes i put down the silver first then the zero telefonica blue that is like a clear met blue that is put on first if you get a even coat of the silver down first you cant go wrong

Cool deal, I'll have to try that. Ive been concidering stripping the body panels and trying again. Ive got 2 cans of the Telefonica Blue, and Im pretty sure Ive got some silver somewhere. When I get to building again, I'll have to try it out.

Those cf details are stunning! I'm curious too regarding the way to paint them. Looking closely the pattern is slightly bent, perhaps the womans stocking trick?!

items needed for the C/F process
a pair of ladies tights
elastic bands
black paint
gun metal/or a bronze paint
airbrush
a pair of laytex gloves

all the c/f process is first paint the parts to be c/f first with black paint then when dry put on the gloves then put the tights over your hand place the part that you are going to c/f between the glove and the tights stretch the tights over the part to open up the weave of the tights not to tight ot the partten will not look right then place the elastic band over your wrist to stop the tights rolling back up keep the airbrush on a low air presure and spray a light dusting on the colour that you want to have the carbon fibre weave you need thenl et dry once that is done you can clear over the parts as it is or i like to tone it down a bit with a coat of tamiya smoke then clear over the result is really convincing if you have complex contours to cover i mask up and do one area at a time it takes a little bit of time but not as much time as c/f decals and it is also cheaper

yes i used future for the first in years i have used it on aircraft before now but never on automotive models

how did you apply the future, via airbrush? when I used it in the past it never gave the same shine you have achieved!
Great build by the way

A+ for this build. Paint job is flawless and your cf is, as I said earlier, really great too. I for one, love lots of photos so keep them coming on future builds.

yes very light coats about two or three then a wet coat to get the deep shine a little more time to do than zero clear but it is more durable when handling parts
