Looks like you've been working on this one for a bit. I have been following your thread. I am just hoping that I could do half-as-good of a job as you. Thanks for providing me with a great roadmap. slk320 04-02-2008, 08:23 PM A small update: Started to wire up the electronics in the nose. All the junction boxes are from the TS kit, decals are SMS, the front gaugae surrounds and skeleton work is from CM: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/PICT0040.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/PICT0041.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/PICT0042.jpg Rear mud guard with the sensors as shown in my PitPass book for 2005 (not sure if its the same in 2006, but whatever call it an artistic license if you must0 http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/PICT0044.jpg Front fender: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/PICT0045.jpg Forks brass by Tamiya grade up kit, the caliper spacers are TS (which appears to be identical to the MFH kit, correct Brembo decals by crazy modeler: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/PICT0046.jpg Wheels http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/PICT0047.jpg Brakes: combination of TS and CM kits, painted in various Testors Metallizers: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/PICT0048.jpg Started on the radiator work still need to be stained, hose claps need to be added and other p/e items need to be added. Keep up the good work! :sunglasse Erick -- ketje 04-03-2008, 06:17 AM looking great. Nice work on the details. Ole_L 04-03-2008, 08:14 AM You're working fast.... good progress... everything looks great. I wired all my connectors prior to installing them since I had to heat the shrink tube over a candle and I didn't want to take a chance getting the flame too close to other parts. slk320 04-03-2008, 09:20 AM Yeah - I worked on the wiring last night - I should have wired them first - but it came out ok in the end. That big main wire bundle was a giant pain...I will post pictures tonight. slk320 04-03-2008, 08:19 PM Here are the wire in all their glory - huge wire bundle - hopefully i didn't miss any wires... btw - sorry for the photos - my camera is really old and crappy http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/PICT0051.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/PICT0053.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/PICT0052.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/PICT0054.jpg not finished yet - obviously - but close to the engine being put in slk320 04-04-2008, 07:21 PM Just playing with my new camera.. hehe (oh and the engine is in ;)) http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0007.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0006.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0005.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0004.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0003.jpg MidMazar 04-05-2008, 12:45 AM Wow, great detail. Ro mrawl 04-07-2008, 05:39 AM Awesome work! If this is somewhat detailed, I can't wait to see highly detailed! slk320 04-08-2008, 09:45 PM Thanks mrawl - your 360 is a true inspiration... update time - small one: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0021.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0023.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0024.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0025.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0026.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0028.jpg This TS set is killing me... sportracer02 04-09-2008, 01:29 AM Nice details, great job so far joelwideqvist 04-09-2008, 04:30 AM looks really great to me! Is there any issues using this detailing set (and others from TS)? I haven't tried them yet and I just wanted an opinion on how they fit, if the instructions are good and so on. Joel Ole_L 04-09-2008, 08:25 AM looks really great to me! Is there any issues using this detailing set (and others from TS)? I haven't tried them yet and I just wanted an opinion on how they fit, if the instructions are good and so on. Joel The detailing set is nice enough and no fit issues. Instructions could be better. TS provide a nice booklet for this set which can also be downloaded from their website so you can see for yourself. For some steps, instructions could be better. They do provide plenty of extra resin connectors so if you lose or break one, it's no big deal. The instructions here are better than the original ones from the YZR kit - which were improved at some point. I have not used the Honda set. Nice update btw... those little wires will get you. slk320 04-09-2008, 10:11 AM I have the same opinion on the TS set - namely that its a great all-inclusive set, and could be used for anything from light detailing to all out superdetailing. You don't have to use everything in the set and you can mix and match the TS set with the CM pe set. I did find the CM pe set to be better overall. Ole_L 04-09-2008, 12:54 PM I agree to the CM PE set, also the fact that TS did not include front brakes whereas CM did - and 3 different versions. slk320 04-09-2008, 10:27 PM Ok..so its all coming together...rather nicely if i do say so myself.... starting to look like a bike now. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0029.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0030.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0031.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0032.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0033.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0034.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0035.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0036.jpg What do you think? swano 04-10-2008, 02:53 AM that looks awesome, its coming along great! mrawl 04-11-2008, 04:22 AM Wow, this is really something to be proud of. colbro1973 04-11-2008, 05:18 AM Superb mate, great photos also, really lets us see those details! what chain have you used, could you post some pics of it too please, it looks very good, is it standard chain detail painted or one of those verey very fiddly individual link chains! how do you plan to display your body work? Cheers Col joelwideqvist 04-11-2008, 08:19 AM That left side of the engine is not hard to mistake for a real bike engine. Those wires and boxes are really nice. Very good job so far. I too like the look of that chain. /Joel slk320 04-11-2008, 10:23 AM Thanks guys - the chain is a kit item painted with dull aluminum and washed - heavily. The CM pe set included a very nice chain - but in brass - which is not correct for this bike (it is correct for the RC211V though). And I didn't bother with the MFH chain set becuase frankly it looked like a giant pain in my arse. I will post pictures of the rear wheel and the chain close up later if you want. joelwideqvist 04-14-2008, 10:45 AM Just keep it coming! /Joel slk320 04-14-2008, 10:04 PM Some updates for you guys I am almost done with this thing....(I did buy a Ducati Pramac bike so that I don't get stale) Here we go: The tank with the wiring and connectors http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0056.jpg The seat and upper cowling tried to use a flocking technique to get the seat looking like suede or fabric...don't know if I like it yet, but here it is anyway: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0055.jpg Rear saddleback see where the wiring from the gas tank is going? http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0058.jpg And here is how it all fits together: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0051.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0052.jpg I will leave the upper saddle back seat and the gas tank off of the finished model to show the wiring Now on to the front forks: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0054.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0062.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0060.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y168/slk320/Kawasaki%20ZX-RR/IMG_0059.jpg We are mighty close to the finish of this one guys... joelwideqvist 04-15-2008, 02:52 AM Maybe I missed out on this earlier but are you going to dress it up (is this even possible??) or show it without the cowls? It's allways fantastic to see the pieces come together. You've done a great job. /Joel slk320 04-15-2008, 10:26 AM Maybe I missed out on this earlier but are you going to dress it up (is this even possible??) or show it without the cowls? It's allways fantastic to see the pieces come together. You've done a great job. /Joel Hey Joel: I am going to display the bike without the seat, front/side/buttom cowling or the gas tank. Those will all be separately displayed. The cowlings will be pieced together and displayed separately, whilethe gas tank and the seat will be displayed in the "open" position.
