1993 V6 Camry Wagon

Cracked mine last night, 51lb seemed like alot, I even told my self after taking them all to 25 that was enough. Got to 35 before the front corner snapped. Luckly no oil leak yet. Maybe some epoxy on it?

Anyways, looking to buy.. Please pm or email septic@nicita.com

Thanks

I would be checking the salvage yards for a used valve (cam) cover. You would have to remove the cam cover and clean it within an inch of it's life to have any chance of an epoxy working. Epoxy doesn't stick well to oily areas.

Its not cracked all the way through, its still solid on the inside, the crack is on the outside and actually up to 25lbs of pressure it doesnt even start to show itself. I just thought I would apply it to the outside to seal it. But I agree, I need to replace it, thus the post... Hopefully someone will have one lying around, I found a new one for 172.00 at a toyota parts depot. Hoping to beat that substantially. Anyone here find one a junkyard, let me know, Maybe better luck elsewhere, but Im in San Diego, so I have some places to call..

The torque is 52 in-lbs.

Yeah, I got that from the lexus 3vzfe and the toyota 3vzfe. Are you supposed to replace the bolts as well? I just finished going outside to check on it, and noticed one bolt not even at 35. So I loosened it and re-tightened it, only to watch the head snap off at 35lbs.

My torque wench is about 4 months old, its a allied (only like 65.00 bucks) but I havent had any issues tightening bolts on my harley with it.

Something is up, and now one of the bolts has the head turned off it. Glad it snapped off with something to grab onto.

Crap.. Glad I goto another car to drive while I wait to locate another cover.

Thanks

It appears that you are confusing in-lbs with ft-lbs.

52 in-lbs is equal to a little over 4 ft-lbs (screwdriver-tight)

yeah. I caught that a bit too late. I knew I was being stupid when I was wrenching on it. I went back and noticed the in instead of lb's there. I get the dumba$$ of the week award.. :) luckly it was only 45 bucks for a replacement valve cover...
