'92 Camry acceleration problemnewmech 03-24-2008, 04:24 PM When i step on the gas i push it clear to the floor and it accelerates really slow no matter if its cold or warm. Is it spark plug issue, injector or what. What are all the ways that the acceleration could be slow. I will look them all over to find problem. DFBonnett 03-24-2008, 05:30 PM Worn ignition components such as plugs, wires, cap, and rotor are the most common source of difficulties such as you describe. What is the service history of those components in your car? newmech 03-25-2008, 05:18 PM While I have a problem with my car today after school I started to leave and I barely let it warm up and when I pulled forward and had to stop the car died when I pushed on the brakes. And thats embarrasing stuck in the middle of the parking lot with a dead car blocking everybody else. Any idea what it is? jdmccright 03-27-2008, 10:28 AM Take a look at your transmission fluid. Check that the level is between the marks on the dipstick. Also check its smell and color. Good fluid will look reddish and clear, and will not have a pungent smell. Bad fluid will be brown, hazy, and will smell burned...time to change the tranny fluid. Some would suggest flushing the fluid if it has gotten this bad, but you can do it much cheaper (albeit it takes longer) by draining, refilling with new fluid, running it, draining again, and refilling again. The cost of the extra fluid used is alot cheaper than what most service shops charge...except that YOU are doing the labor. If the fluid looks good, then open your radiator cap. Look for an oily sheen on the top of the coolant. If you see it, you probably have a leak in between the coolant and tranny fluid cores (the radiator does double duty by cooling both the engine coolant AND the transmission fluid...the two big hoses carry the engine coolant in and out of the radiator, the two small metal tubes, the tranny fluid). If you suspect an internal leak, the radiator can be pressure tested to confirm this. Good luck! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
