Hey folks,

I thought I'd started a post on this one, but a quik search turned nothing up...

Anyways, long storey short.......
This subject was started to coincide with a "Build-off" on another forum.
I'm sure that some of the other Cuda's here are for the same.....:)

It's due by months end.......ain't gonna happen, I've left my run too late...
Oh well, it'll get done, just not on time.......

My version started out as a JoHan Sox & Martin Pro Stock drag car..
I decided on a tough street version......way kooler..(maybe not, if your a fan of theirs..)
The chassis was tossed out for starters.....way too basic for my tastes, which left me with the body and not much else.....
For the chassis I chose an Amt 71 Dodge Charger. (following the lead of another very, very talented modeller, Frank K, cheers mate.) It needed to be shortened approx 10mm under the rear seat area. A complete new rear floor section was then added to it. A seperate fuel tank was scratched up to suit.

http://images32.fotki.com/v1046/photos/6/63306/5550921/hemicuda426aab008-vi.jpg

The front chassis was shortened approx 5mm to get the wheels centred.

The body required plenty of filler and prep work, s'pecially the front, which had these horrible slots below the lights (don't know why.....)
http://images32.fotki.com/v1046/photos/6/63306/5550921/hemicuda4261_12_07c-vi.jpg

The end result looks a lot cleaner IMHO...Whatcha reckon....?
http://images19.fotki.com/v315/photos/6/63306/5550921/HEMI572CUDA002-vi.jpg

Also made up my own hood...sorta copied the AAR style....my way....
http://images32.fotki.com/v1110/photos/6/63306/5550921/HEMI572CUDA007-vi.jpg

Almost finished the Dana rear this arvo...it has drum brakes (Tamiya) fitted either end, the front will have Tamiya discs...The wheels are Mopar stamped steel curtesy of my Duster. The rears are widened.

And this is how she'll sit when completed...pretty nice stance I think....
I have some custom hockey stripes to add as well, thanks to Keith Marks.

Lots more in progress shots here @ Fotki http://public.fotki.com/Greg5000/70-74-cuda-sh-cuda-/

Hope to share more soon, even if it's not done by the end of March....
Cheers

Very nice! I love the Johan body. If it isn't correct, it's really hard to tell what's wrong with it. non glass headlights suck, but that's easily taken care of. I am guessing you plan on going with the sublime green? would look nice, but I think it's over played. Hemi orange pearl with pearl black or carbon fiber hood would look sahhh-weeet! I'm sorry, I'm just rambling.

Keep up the excellent work, I'm watching this one!

oh, those slots are so you can get the front of the chassis in the car when it's being built. You have to put the rear end in first, then you'll have to spread the fenders apart. those slots allow the fenders to spread out without breaking stuff.

i'd vote for different wheels since you've got all those kick ass mods. Either way, I'm gonna be watchin. Wouldn't it kinda be a 71 now? .. with a 71 grille.

Cheers guys...

Yah, orange mettalic/pearl was one of my first choices.....but I decided on blue and ............

Thanks for the headsup on those pesky slots too.....lucky I'm not using the kit chassis, hey.....:evillol: ..The new one will go in without any dramas....

Hey man, I think you're correct on the '71.....my mistake. I'm just used to calling it a 70's Cuda.....it kinda stuck.......

I really like all the work you put into the chassis. The gastank with the flange running all around it is a great detail too. Excellent work.

Thanks guys..:)

Got the rims partially painted last night...they look heaps better already in one colour....It's a base coat gray, and I'll do the centres in two shades of silver/steel...hope they look ok when done....
Also finished off the diff/springs...just need to detail them with some extra paint/weathering.....
Hope to have pics in a day or two......

Cheers

Yah, got a bit carried away with the chassis....sorta slowed progress on the rest of the build..(currantly at a standstill.... ...)
I've got it on hold while I try and finish a couple of others..never ends....

I really like the way your green one is heading...going to be kool..:smokin:
(PS: found the spare bumper, I'll get it in the mail tomorrow..)

GregHey Gregg, I just found out that this is you posting in this forum, didn't know you were working on one also. That's great, now I can better gauge my progress by seeing what you are doing also!! Why haven't you posted this on the Modelcarsmag.com forum? Looks like something they would love there also!:naughty:

Been getting this done, as time permits...between real work and house renovations...man, I need a rest....:runaround:

Paint is on....foiling is done.....needs clear coat (and a fine weekend.. )
Decals are by Keith Marks, nice to work with too...I wanted the subtle look, which I think I achieved...
