View Full Version : Removing paint from a Hood Vent, need help Removing paint from a Hood Vent, need help dat280zx 03-23-2008, 02:25 PM In any case, I'm about to repaint some from a project car. :screwy: http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/11/web/2375000-2375999/2375766_21_full.jpg Picture from Cardomain... not mine. http://i1.ebayimg.com/04/i/000/e2/30/201a_1.JPG Picture from Ebay... not mine. In the past, I've spent a few hours hand sanding the spaces between all the vents. Unfortunately, I cannot get into all the corners, and sometimes there are flakes that just can't get removed. This just isn't working for me. I was wondering what kind of chemical agents I could possibly use to just... spray on and later wipe/pressure wash off? Of course, these vents aren't metal. Some sort of composite, plastic, or maybe even fiberglass. And, I don't want to soak them in lacquer thinner, only to have a big puddle of napalm left over. :banghead: I have been successful in removing SOME of the paint, since I did two colors last time, but neglected to sand the first color in the areas I can-sprayed the top/black. We have both a pressure washer, and an air compressor, but I can't really buy a bunch of sandblasting equipment either, and I don't suppose that is an option with this delicate of a part. Thanks for any help and suggestions! :smokin: Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com! Registration is absolutely free. |
