'48 Ford F1 ProjectGearstix 03-20-2008, 03:43 PM I'm customizing a '48 F1 over spring break. Got a buddy making Moon Discs for the wheels, and a gas tank for the bed. Gonna be making a wood bed floor for it, chopping the top and finish lowering it. My camera died and I dont have any recent pictures. I'm also gunna be chopping the roof. Has anybody here welded diecast or soldered it? http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/gearstix/48F1005.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/gearstix/48F1001.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/gearstix/48F1002.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/gearstix/48F1003.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/gearstix/48F1004.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/gearstix/1948F1001.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/gearstix/1948F1002.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/gearstix/1948F1003.jpg http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q106/gearstix/1948F1004.jpg I'm going to be painting it aswell. I may attempt a suicide door conversion.. Gearstix 03-21-2008, 04:54 PM Well, I got the roof chopped, did it with JB weld instead of actually welding it. Now I gotta sand it down and do the doors. stainlesssteel 03-21-2008, 07:17 PM Hi, nice project!, may i know what kit is it? the chassis looks like it came from a toy or something rsxse240 03-21-2008, 09:49 PM It is a die cast. I'd bet it was a maisto, or something similar. I don't have any problems with people modding their die cast models in this section, but others do. There is a die cast section in the Automotive Art section. I bet you'll find a LOT more information on customizing these models than in the plastic model forum.
