Hi,

another current project :screwy: : BMW Z3 Coupe Schnitzer.

Base is a so-called Revell "Advantage"-Kit :puke: (the only "advantage" is, that you must tear out the glued in glas and work hard to get the colour away).

After all I sanded the dust in the "Advantage"-colour down and sealed and primed the body.

Wheels I got here: http://www.automobilminiaturen.de/product_info.php?info=p1218_Felgensatz-19--Schni-zer-Typ-3.html

Looks like a cool project. I have the prepainted Revell M Roadster, but I never managed to find the Coupe version. I've wondered how hard it will be to strip, but it looks like it worked fine for you. Looking forward to watching it come along.

It seems impossible to strip. Body comes in blue plastic, colour is darker, I have no idea, what kind of colour they used. Oven cleaner doen´t work. So I decided to sand it a little bit and prime it, this way it worked.

The sanding sounds rather effort intensive, but it looks like you've done a good job of it. I've been hoping isopropyl alcohol might work, but of course haven't tried it yet.

I wonder if you can do anything to make me like this car? :)

(I'm sure you will ;) )

I used the 97% alcohol to strip it. Took a few days tho. But eventually, it started flaking off.

I was thinking about buying this kit for some time. I know it's curbside but I was wondering about the quality of the kit. How good are the details, the wheels?
Anyone can help me out?

Oups, I almost forgot the most important.
The priming on this model looks first class, I thought it was a resin model when I saw the picture. And the wheels look excellent!

I've always liked this car. I guess i never picked up the kit because it was curbside, and a bit expensive at that.
looks like a great start, i'm looking fwd to more.

I know this kit is a pain to start, I also built it years ago. Somebody started to rip the paint but did not succeed, so brought it back to the shop and I bought it 50% off. Not a bad kit anyway except for the stock wheels, they are way too underscaled I think.

As for yours, you did a very nice job so far. The rims look hot also. What color combo do you plan to paint?

Hi,

some more work on the wheels: under 2 of the resin stars I glued some sheet, that the resin part comes out a little bit more (for the front wheels -see the 2 Standing wheels for the difference)
