Startup rpm ?

Just purchased a 2008 Xterra. If the engine is cold or warmed up to operating temp, everytime I start it the rpm go up to 2000-2001 rpm then drops down. Is this normal? Had a 1999 Blazer that when warmed up never went over 900 rpm on starts. Thanks for any help you can give me.

My 06 does the same thing. It's normal.

I have a 2007 and it does the same thing, but it is a bit disconcerting in the fact that it does this before oil hits the engine and you hear a little rod knock, etc. before it happens. Makes me wonder why they do this. Does anyone know if there is any way to drop this starting rpm or would it really matter, since lower rpm would just make it take longer for oil to hit major parts?

Also, while we are at it, I use a combination synthetic/regular oil in my engine. I did this from the git-go since I heard that if you use pure synthetic in a new engine, you don't get a proper break-in. I figured since I couldn't verify it either way, this was a happy medium. Any information would be appreciated.

One last thing - I am having trouble with the electric lock hanging up on the right rear passenger door. When it does, you cannot even open it manually as the mechanism seems to be binding. Anyone had issues with Nissan electric locks? I hate to take it back to the dealer if I can fix it.

I haven't been here in a long time. Good to be back. Been gone on a 180-day electrical upgrade job for a waste water treatment plant. Talk about aroma therapy!!
