Has anyone tried modifying the rear seat hinges to allow the rear seat back to fold flat???

I'd like to try it...But it's 5*F outside... :D

They already fold essentially flat, you want to lose that last 8 degrees?

Have you tried taking out the bottom seat cushion before you fold the seat back down?

The last person that told me they were upset that the seats didn't fold flat so they could sleep in the truck didn't remove the bottom seat cushions so the seat backs couldn't fold flat. After I told him how it was done and asked if he ever looked at his owner manual he said he really felt like a dip$hit. His words, not mine.

...heh, heh... :D Yep, I removed the bottoms. I was also aware of the inability to lie flat before I bought it.

Just curious if anyone else had modified theirs before I tear mine apart.

...Which will be a while, since I have no garage to work in...

IT is just not posible! Get an extra self inflating mattress if you are the "Princess and the Pea" syndrome!

I agree with Rick. However, you could think about it in reverse, and figure out a way to make a platform that raises the rear to compensate for the seats being angled up, but that's a lot of hassle.

Mine fold all the way flat. All I have to do is get in through the side door and put all my wieght on them and they go all the way down and then some. Of course there's still that steel lump right behind the seats!

It's those stacks of twenty sheets of half-inch plywood...

I don't want to lose any... :p

The air mattress really works well. If you get a 12v mattress inflator you can have camp set up in no time flat. Those of us who have camped out of our X regularly for the last 3 years have pretty muched worked out all the nuances. If you have any questions, just post!

I'd believe Jens, but then it's been at least a year since I've seen him offroad in his truck.

6 months, rich-boy. (http://www.superjens.com/pics/X11-WestHarrison/index.html) Remember, gas is expensive up here and I'm single now! (read: expenses have doubled) Coupled with working 6 days a week, wheeling has taken a back seat for awhile. :flipa:

I see 3 pictures of you out of 30. Looks like you drove up, jumped in Chad's truck and took a picture on the way out. :finger: (joking).

You could always park the truck on a slight downhill to make of for the unevenness of the back.
