I Need Help Choosing a Performance Air Intake!!

 I have a 2001 GMC jimmy SLS 4.3L V6. I have been reading alot about intakes but can't find any comparison charts that show differences in preformance (just see the sales pitch), And I am trying to decide which Intake to get. I like both the K&N FIPK GenerationII (except for the oil problem I have been reading about is a down side) and the AEM Brute Force. Seems that the K&N needs more maintenance because of that oil problem if the performance is the same between the two.If anyone can PLEASE help me. I am new to all this but was always interested, I would like to know which intake is the best for my Jimmy out of the two I mention here. I would also like to know about these E-Bay Intakes I read about here in some old threads. Last but diffenently not least, Can you use a AEM fliter on a K&N intake thus avoiding the oiling of the fliter and preventing the extra cleaning of the K&N system. <--(I KNOW, SOUNDS TO EASY).
:banghead: THANKS

If you are on a budget and don't care how the intake looks, then the Ebay intakes will function fine and power gains will be almost the same as the more expensive intakes. You get what you pay for though, as the mounting hardware is horrible at best and the filters are cheap and, just like the K&N's, need to be oiled. If you want to step it up a notch, you have either the K&N FIPK or the AEM Brute Force. Both look great and have metal heat shields that come with them. Out of the two, i would spend a little more and get the AEM. I just got rid of my ebay intake and K&N filter and bought an AEM intake from a friend. The mounting design on the throttle body is much more sucure as it bolts on were as the K&N uses hose clamps and has been known to pop off. Also the AEM uses a dry filter so it never needs oil and will not cause issues with the MAF sensor.

Thanks I am thinking the same thing about K&N and AEM mostly due to not having to oil the fliter, I didn't know about the diffeence in the way they mount. Sounds to me that AEM is the way to go. Thanks for your Input.

Truth is, all you're buying is a sales pitch. The intake will make it sound different, and all the "performance increase" happens between your ears.

With the name brands, yea there is a sales pitch, always will be. As far as the performance gains, they are not just in your head, they are real. Dynos don't lie man

Right. Dyno's don't lie. dynos can't lie. Human beings running dynos lie every day. A good dyno tech can get whatever numbers you ask for, and you'll believe it and say "just look at the numbers"... blah blah blah. You get the numbers that you ask for.

never herd of a dyno operator faking the vehicles hp/tq numbers :screwy: . Point is the gains are real. a less restrictive intake will make more power. its been proven time and time again. the sales pitch is advertizing it as a "cold air intake". most of the time the factory intake is already drawing in "colder air" from a source outside of the engine bay.

herkyhawki, you know that personally attacking a member, especially a mod is totally uncalled for. You've been warned about this before. Thread closed, sorry BigCasino.
