I am trying to change everything I can change before i take my car to a long trip. My power windows and overhear light works when they feel like it. Where can I find the relay for those and what fuse the the right one in the fuse box?

Your lights and power windows working some of the time sounds more like they have dirty or worn contacts. I know that is true with mine. I can work a window just fine at its controls but not consistently at the driver's controls. Rod would be better to verify this, but your inside lights are on fuse 8 - 15 A, and your pw are on fuses 6 - 15 A, and 14 - 20 A, according to my 95 op man, but its not for a sho. Do you hear a relay clicking when using things or not clicking? Again, Rod would do better at handling what relays you have, as you could have one for the windows or three and none or three for the lights. I think they are under the dash near the fuse panel, but that's just where I'd start.

Do the two fail to work together? Ie: when the windows don't work the overhead lights don't work either, or do the two appear to be unrelated?

There doesn't appear to be any tie between the two electrically. I get the same circuits as tripledaddy posted, except the 20-amp is a circuit breaker. No relay is showing in the circuit, although if you hear a clicking, it could be the circuit breaker (doubtful you'd hear it though).

The power windows receive their power feed from circuit breaker 14 (20-amp) in the instrument panel fuse panel. The switch illumination is from fuse 6 (15-amp) in the same panel.

The interior lights receive their feed from fuse 8 (15-amp) in the instrument panel fuse panel.

If the two seem unrelated, I'd make sure your window lock switch is not causing the problem, either from being inadvertantly switched or from being loose/broken/dirty. The interior lights failing may be due to the common door pin switch issue. I don't remember on the 95 if the switches are integrated into the latch or not.

When the windows stop working, do they just stop working from the driver's master switches, or do they stop working from the individual doors as well?

If the two seem to be related, I'd suggest you open up the wiring joint in the driver's door jamb (front of door) and look for stressed or broken wires. When the items stop working, will opening or closing the driver's door have an effect?

I drove the car about 150 miles and when I got home things started acting up and they all stopped working at the same time. Power windows works fine and the power lock only locks the doors but wont unlock them sometimes, the rest of the time just dont work. The overhead light just dont do squat.

Now would be a good time for that virtual mechanic Rod that I requested. Pix, videos, and other media how-to-do-its, just don't come close enough. I'm talking Star Trek's Sick Bay Doc and the Nasa/military robotic doctor, real time video and audio. AI would be nice too, but then we would have nothing to do. :)

Sorry for the aside there, mannyjfk, but not sure what more to suggest without you "jumping" into things and troubleshooting some sort of "gap" in your electrical circuitry. You need some sort of means to check continuity, if you don't, like a light tester or volt/ohms meter, Do you live in an area that has a lot of corrosion, like along the ocean? Sounds ground related, not power supply related.

Agreed that mannyjfk is probably going to need a multimeter to pursue the root cause much further. I'm still leaning towards an open wire in the multi-wire connection in the driver's door jamb.

It would be interesting to see if opening the door while things are acting up would cause the symptoms to change.

Around here when something like this happens, my buddies call up a few freinds, gets a couple cases of beer, then schedules "garage night." Unfortunately, the longer it takes to find the problem, the sloppier our repair.

Ok so I buy a case of Beer, a bottle of Jack Daniels and then we pull the codes. Swing by.Beer and food on me.

As much as I enjoy road trips, NYC is a bit of trek for me from Iowa. I've done that drive twice. Man, I never would have guessed it would take so long to cross Pennsylvania....
