i recently helped my friend with his 98 civic with a d16y8 and put a t3\t4 turbo with a turbonetics waste gate and a gsr blow off valve and its only getting 5psi of boost so is there anyone else with this setup that can tell me if more boost can be squeezed out of this setup or is this setup not meant for turbo

Well the boost controller will help them raise the boost higher. As far as the setup, it depends on what kind of fuel/engine management your friend is running, what size injectors, and what's the condition of the engine (compression/leakdown checks)? I mean, did your friend just throw those parts on, or did they do things the right way? Also, what's a gsr blow off valve?

yeah its just a slap together with 195,000 miles and stock injectors and management i see there is more to it then meets the eye

ive never heard of a "gsr blow of valve" and whats spring is in the wastegate? all you may need is a boost controller to raise the boost

Wow...
Anyone want to take bets on how long this setup lasts before the engine lets out on him??
A stock GSR can work great with boost IF its tuned correctly and the setup isnt a pile of crap. I made 315whp for a few years on my stock GSR without issues. I would take some time to research turbo setups before messing anything up on the car.

I'll give it a maximum of 2 months. Probably pushing it a little, but that's my best guess :p
