Is it true that all Toyota Cars are sold with Global I protection etching (it costs $285)? My dealer told me that ALL cars driven off the Dealership has this put on and that it is MANDATORY. Is this true or bs?

I really thought that scam finally got to end in the late 80's, but ouch here it is again a new angle for the dealership to milk the consumer.
LISTEN, I dont really care if it's mandatory or not, if you pay for it you been had, negotiate your best price then deduct $285.

I'd like to add that many insurance companies offer a discount to vehicles that have been etched off the premiums, so if your vehicle has been etched it might be worthwhile to ask your insurance company. You might save some $$$.
