88 Cherokee Pioneer Ignition/Idle issueRaceghost 02-21-2008, 10:17 PM So, I can start my Cherokee. It will run for a few minutes, and then just die. Not all the time either. Tonight I fired it up, let it set for a few, then gave it 2 quick pumps on the pedal, when I let off of the second rev, the jeep dropped so far in revs as to almost die, Battery gauge dropped to 9 volts, lights dimmed, everything almost to cut out, and then back to normal. Yesterday, driving to SD, slow down from running 75 freeway on an exit, when I came to a stop, it died. Then it didnt want to start. I shut the switch off, tried again, then again. Then sat with it off for a second, a tried again. After a few more, it finally fired, ran great the rest of the day. Interesting side note: Every now and then, when I fire up the jeep, I get over spray from the pump assembly, right outside of the fuel tank. I have checked for leaks, and nothing. But, literally I have seen it push a quart of gas out the line under the rear. I have read about the fuel pump, etc. Think I have an issue there with a faulty pump or regulator...? Edit: I also have replaced the Crank Shaft sensor in the Bell Housing, 3 Times. I have replaced and checked: Alternator Battery Starter Ignition switch ECU/Ignition module/Coil (OEM all in one) Distributer Cap Plug Wires Plugs fredjacksonsan 02-22-2008, 12:58 PM My first thoughts are battery cables and the CPS - Crankshaft Position Sensor. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
