Had the Jimmy in Thursday to Canadian Tire for routine oil change. Sat. morning went to start and noticed gage was in the red. Oil everywhere! Towed back to Canadian tire, put 3 new oil filters in and with in second of starting they blew. Being told its the oil pump in the motor, apparently very rare. Looking at $1000.00 plus to fix, anyone ever heard of this before?

I had a 455 Olds do it after I shimmed the oil pump relief valve spring too much....made 80psi just cranking the motor over..had to pull the pan back off & take the shim out to get normal oil pressure.
Looks like something is holding your relief valve closed.

The bypass valve is stuck. Remove the oil filter and oil filter adapter, (2 bolts). Remove the oil filter bypass valve, (pulls straight out). Replace the oil filter bypass valve. Replace all gaskets and the O ring for the adapter, reinstall the adapter, install the oil filter and top off with oil. Done! About $40.00 in parts and about an hour labor.

$1,000.00? WOW! Bring her over, I'll give ya a helluva deal at $500.00 ;)

Canadian Tire....typical. I use to work at Canadian Tire, oh the stories I could tell you. Although the bypass issue may be coincedience, typical shot gun diagnoses. The filter is blowing because of too much pressure, not that it doesn't have enough.

Follow Old Master's advice, thats your problem. DO NOT start it/drive it until the repair is made, you technically have very little oil pressure in the motor. Also, take my advice stay AWAY from Canadian Tire oil filters. Made by FRAM, and look worse than the FRAM filters. (FRAM filter is not the best choise for oil filters). NAPA (wix filter), AC Delco, Car Quest all have much better filters.
