The steering wheel is in locked position, no tension. Gear shifter is in neutral, does this have something to do with the key?

Shifter needs to be in park to remove the key.

The shifter is in park and the key does go in and out of the ignition, but the ignition does not turn.

I recall having a similar problem a few years ago. It turned out to be a chip on the ignition key that failed. Good luck!
