View Full Version : Fidel Castro Resigns. Fidel Castro Resigns. '97ventureowner 02-19-2008, 09:34 AM http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080219/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/fidel_castro Damien 02-19-2008, 10:13 AM Nothing will till he's dead and gone, at least. Resigning means nothing, just that he's not the public face in office. Even still...he's gotta be cloned. J_Swigz 02-19-2008, 12:00 PM I don't think we'll see any real changes for another 5-10 years, to be honest. I think we'll see them, as each ruler has their own particular style, even if it is his brother. Still, glad to hear the news. xeroinfinity 02-19-2008, 07:22 PM its about time the old bastard got outta there! :D His brothers probly not much of a nicer guy, so I dont expect many changes in thier Cola productions. '97ventureowner 02-20-2008, 12:15 AM His brother's only 5 years younger than him, so it makes me wonder just how long hell hold that position :dunno:.We'll have to see who else emerges in the coming months/years that could possibly take over after Raoul. fredjacksonsan 02-21-2008, 12:02 PM I thought his brother was 70? No matter...Fidel looked really rough the last pics I saw of him. 15 years, I predict upheaval in Cuba as the ruling family is replaced. ericn1300 02-22-2008, 09:15 PM Maybe it's time to end the U.S. Embargo and political sanctions and send all the noisy Cubanistas living the good life in Miami back home. Sort of like the Mariel boatlift in reverse. Lownslow 02-22-2008, 10:25 PM hes dead 2strokebloke 02-25-2008, 08:37 PM The embargo really hasn't helped anybody in the U.S. or Cuba. If the U.S. would pull its head out of its ass, it would give Cuba a chance to do the same. 00accord44 02-25-2008, 10:52 PM Our national anus grows tighter around our neck with each passing year. If we do ever end the embargo against Cuba then they'll lose that time-warp look they maintain with all those vintage 50s cars still filling the streets :( YogsVR4 02-29-2008, 01:42 PM The issue with lifting the embargo has to do with the landowners who were evicted by Castro. They still claim their land while Castro claims its the countries and the people who owned the land hold a lot of political sway here. Opening up trade means the fight for land ownership is being given up. That the prior owners won't appreciate and will skewer any politician who does it. I would like to see the embargo lifted and then slap one on Canada - just for the shrill it would cause. 2strokebloke 02-29-2008, 11:25 PM I'd rather have fine cuban cigars than make a couple of whiners happy.:grinyes: And what does Canada export anyways? BNaylor 03-01-2008, 12:34 AM And what does Canada export anyways? Their Army, Navy and Air Force for desert training to the good old Southwestern U.S. :grinyes: So far they have dumped over $30 million dollars into the local economy and for use of our military facilities.....eh!!!!! And man their chicks are hot too. :naughty: '97ventureowner 03-01-2008, 12:41 AM And what does Canada export anyways? http://i31.tinypic.com/i24jky.jpg BNaylor 03-01-2008, 12:52 AM http://i31.tinypic.com/i24jky.jpg Molson is good stuff Tom. :grinyes: Between that and the free Heater meals they give away I'm getting sick. BTW - They buy their combat field rations from a U.S. based company (Heater Meals). Sure beats our frickin' MREs. :puke: http://www.heatermeals.com/ '97ventureowner 03-01-2008, 01:12 AM Molson is good stuff Tom. :grinyes: Living less than 1 1/2 hours one way and just under 3 hours another way from the Canadian border sure can have it's benefits:grinyes: I remember when I was younger a friend and I used to go to Canada for the weekend and come back with some great beer. I was getting that Molson XXX in Canada way before they made it available in the States. Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
