New post for a new different problem. I have never done much suspension work but I guess I'm going to do some now because when I went to test drive the car the right rear forward Lateral Stab Bar cracked into.

I got the wheel side portion off pretty easy, but my question is how do you get the center bolt and nut off? It looks pretty tight in there. The fuel tank is about 2 inches away from the bolt head and the nut seems only accessible by a crescent wrench (13/16"). Any suggestions on how to make this easier or any dos or don'ts?

One correction, the part is actually just called a Lateral Link -- there are four of them, two per side; one in front and one in the rear.

Thanks!

Last night I discovered I had to lower the fuel tank to get to the center bolt. The bolts holding the strap onthe rear of the fuel tank are 15mm bolts and about 2.75 inches long.

At 7:00p I lowered the rear of the fule tank thinking I had only 4 - 5 inches to go then I found out the fuel tank is approximately 14 inches high, IOW, lowering the rear wasn't good enough.

This job had become a lot more difficult than I thought. Why couldn't GM designed a little access 'U' Bend in the tank so you could get the center bolt out of the Lateral Link?

Lateral link is now installed. If the fuel tank wasn't there it would be a 30 minute job max, however, lowering the tank (for me) added an additional 2 hours because I didn't have a 15 mm ratchet wrench, the wrench I had would let me get about fifth turn on the fuel tank strap bolts which are 2.5 inches long...maybe a bit longer.
