Need Help!Arianabf 02-18-2008, 11:21 PM I have a 89 Cherokee Pioneer. This poor jeep has been taken apart and put back together a lot (someone's toy). I can start it without a key, by just turning the ignition. Lately i have been having a problem with it not wanting to turn off. I used to be able to turn it forward a little bit then turn it back and it would shut off. Today, I couldn't get it to turn off. I finally took a wire out the distrubutor cap to turn it off. When I put the wire back in the car will start again no problem, but it still won't turn off. I have tired putting the key in it that way... alas nothing worked. Any suggestions?:banghead: mmcpeck 02-19-2008, 06:52 PM Take apart the ignition and see if it's wired right, maybe get an new ignition switch. fredjacksonsan 02-19-2008, 07:43 PM Ignition switch is my guess also. dave92cherokee 02-20-2008, 07:10 AM Ignition switch and ignition key cylinder. Replace those and check for any bad wiring right at the ignition switch to make sure none of them are shorted. dwendt1978 02-20-2008, 09:55 PM lol classic!! That's what I'd do is replace the ignition switch. And trace the wires back and find a short or something. Those vehicles it's rather easy to do. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
