View Full Version : help with identifying cars in pictures I took help with identifying cars in pictures I took giraudjerome 02-15-2008, 08:02 AM I know that this is the wrong place to speak about that, and i appologize in advance, but i don't know how i can create a new "post". I walked in San Francisco for several months in order to bring a series of a hundred photos of cars (American or not) not necessarily the most beautiful, but just to have an objective look at what kind of car you have in your country (i forget to mention how french i am) I regularly post on my site new photos. What I am asking you, is giving me the brand and model for each photo in the "comments" of my site. (the ultimate goal to make a photo exhibition in paris) Thank you to those who participate. The address is here Http://www.whichbrand.blogspot.com (http://www.whichbrand.blogspot.com/) Sincerely Jerome richtazz 02-16-2008, 07:09 AM Welcome to AF. I moved your post to it's own thread to give it better visibility. I checked out the link to your blog and it doesn't seem to violate any AF policies so I'll let it stay. If any AF members want to help out in identifying the cars in the pics at the link, feel free. '97ventureowner 02-16-2008, 09:20 AM Rich, there is a forum specifically for threads like this that might be a better fit.I see these questions in there all the time. It's a subforum titled "Car Sightings" and is under the "Cars in General" main forum. If you don't mind, I'll move it there as they get a lot traffic with members helping to identify any vehicles presented. In the meantime, I tried to answer some of the pictures in the blog, but my French is shall we say "horrible" and had trouble replying. So I will post some answers here. Picture 16 appears to be a Lincoln Town Car, pic 15 is a Chevrolet 1/2 ton pickup (C1500),pic 13 appears to be a late '70s /early '80s Chevrolet Malibu, pic 12 is a Ford (F150 ?) pickup, pic 11 looks like an old Chevy "step side pickup" but I could be wrong:lol:,pic 9 appears to be an early to mid '80s Pontiac Bonneville or other GM full size, I cant tell without seeing the taillights, pic 8 is a Mercury Grand Marquis, and pic 4 is a Jeep. I haven't seen a lot of those vehicles in years as in my area cars and trucks don't last long as they rust out prematurely due to our heavy salt usage on the roads in the winter. dave92cherokee 02-16-2008, 11:18 AM Updated your site with the one's I could recognize right off the bat. The first one under the blue car cover will be hard to identify as cannot see any details or body design. The first one under the blue car cover will be hard to identify as cannot see any details or body design. I thought pic #8 looked more like a Mercury Grand Marquis because of the taillights. If i had a closer shot of it one could possibly clarify it. Basically they are the same vehicle anyways , just mainly cosmetic differences. dave92cherokee 02-16-2008, 06:09 PM yah kind of like chevy and gmc almost exact same just different names and very small differences. curtis73 05-06-2008, 06:01 AM 23 is a Honda Civic from the mid 90's 22 is a Mercury Grand Marquis. It is basically a copy of the Ford Crown Victoria/LTD and the Lincoln Town Car 21 is a Mercedes SUV 20 is a Dodge 1/2 ton pickup. 19 is a Mazda MX5 Miata. 18 is one of the GMC or Chevy Yukon/Denali SUVs. They are SUVs based on the 1/2 ton truck. 17 is a blue car cover on a 1968 Buick Riviera. If you saw this car without the cover, you would have instantly transferred your citizenship to Les Etats Unis. It is one sexy piece of classic car. 16 is a mid 90s Lincoln Town Car 15 is a late 80s or early 90s Chevy/GMC 1/2 ton or light duty 3/4 ton 2-wheel drive pickup 14 is a Honda CRV. Its a small SUV based on the Civic. 13 is an early 80s Chevrolet Malibu. 12 is a mid 80s Ford F150 or F250 (1/2 ton or 3/4 ton) 11 is a late 70s to mid 80s Chevy 1/2 ton pickup. That bed is called a step side. 10 looks like an early 80s Nissan Stanza 9 is an 80s Buick Electra 8 is a mid to late 80s Mercury Grand Marquis. 7 is a newer Mazda MX5 Miata 6 is a 94-98 Toyota Tercel. You might have seen a similar model in France called the Starlet. 5 is a Mazda Z car from the early 80s. They were made in 240Z, 260Z, 280Z, and 300Z. This one lookes like a 260Z. 4 is a Jeep Wrangler. Its late 90s or early 2000s probably. 3 is hard to tell... maybe a Lexus SUV? 2 is an early 90s Porsche 911 1 is also a little hard to tell, but my guess is a late 90s Hyundai Accent.
