Also what are the fumes like off it, are they as strong as 2-pac-clear? Cheers Col joelwideqvist 02-11-2008, 08:05 AM Great shine and decal work on that rear cowl! /Joel slk320 02-11-2008, 11:01 AM Nice work on the decals! jezz 02-11-2008, 12:25 PM Hi Jezz, looking good, does that clear go over decals with no problems or have you not tried yet! would like to know how it works out. Also what are the fumes like off it, are they as strong as 2-pac-clear? Cheers Col I have not put clear over the decals yet the fumes are the same as the zero basecoats i will let you know on that one i am going to do more decals on the fairing tonight.I have not used the 2-pac -clear yet as i spray indoors with a booth and and a fan and i dont want the fumes in house i am going to sort a area in the garden shed in the summer might try it then stevenoble 02-11-2008, 01:03 PM I have this lacquer at home, but I can't use it...when I sprayed with the airbrush a lot of "dust" appears in the bike!!! I never have obtain this bright with a lacquer!!!! How do you do it!!! jajajajaja If by 'dust' you mean that the lacquer goes dusty and white and has a cobweb effect to it then try adding more thinner to the mix and also experiment with the air pressure from your airbrush. The 'cobweb' or 'white' effect is usually a sign of one or both of these things being wrong. It should spray fine if you correct these two problems. If you mean 'dust' particles from the air landing in the paint then you need to spray in a cleaner place to stop this from ruining your paint work. ketje 02-11-2008, 02:42 PM great start jezz 02-11-2008, 05:45 PM i have done some of the cf work so far i will cover in tamiya smoke the clear all over still some more parts to do yet the airbox etc http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/7702/dscf1547li5.jpg http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/6435/dscf1548ky0.jpg once i have finished cf i will do some more of the decals on the faring and clear all over stevenoble 02-11-2008, 05:52 PM Very impressive carbon decal work.Which brand of decal did you use? Nice finish so far on the bodywork parts as well. They will look great when you clear again over the decals and polish. slk320 02-11-2008, 06:25 PM Is the rear fender and other pieces supposed to be made up of multiple pieces of CF? Because it appears you didn't match up the weave patters which makes it look like you are trying to replicate CF patch work. jezz 02-11-2008, 07:53 PM Is the rear fender and other pieces supposed to be made up of multiple pieces of CF? Because it appears you didn't match up the weave patters which makes it look like you are trying to replicate CF patch work. yes im going for the patch work look i think on this one it will give the cf part a better look other than one peice of cf once i have sprayed on some of tamiya smoke and clear-coated it agin it will look fine slk320 02-11-2008, 09:48 PM oh ok - then I like it! :) hehe mrawl 02-12-2008, 03:42 AM Wow, beautiful finish work. The CF looks amazing, keep it going!!! Pippin1974 02-12-2008, 08:05 AM If by 'dust' you mean that the lacquer goes dusty and white and has a cobweb effect to it then try adding more thinner to the mix and also experiment with the air pressure from your airbrush. The 'cobweb' or 'white' effect is usually a sign of one or both of these things being wrong. It should spray fine if you correct these two problems. If you mean 'dust' particles from the air landing in the paint then you need to spray in a cleaner place to stop this from ruining your paint work. And.....what kind of thinner have I to use with the lacquer?? acetone?? water?? Thanks a lot for your help people..and sorry for be annoying!!!! :crying: stevenoble 02-12-2008, 09:53 AM And.....what kind of thinner have I to use with the lacquer?? acetone?? water?? Thanks a lot for your help people..and sorry for be annoying!!!! :crying: Ideally I would go with the Zero thinner. This one. http://www.hiroboy.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=48_66&products_id=795 But you can use the regular cellulose thinner that is also listed. The basecoat thinner is usually better quality and more suited to thinning top coats lacquers etc.Whereas the cellulose is more for thinning primers etc as it is usually less expensive and not as high quality. All the thinners are listed on this page. http://www.hiroboy.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=48_66 Don't use water though as the Zero stuff isn't water based and it will make a real mess if you thin it with water. jezz 02-12-2008, 08:54 PM all the decals are finished now ready for a final clear coat and i will polish up after a few days http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/1765/allbodypartsth0.jpg colbro1973 02-13-2008, 03:59 AM excellent, decal work looks impressive, very tidy. barhebraeus 02-13-2008, 06:29 AM Jezz--looks great!
