1996 Blazer Saga!

Hello again all.
Here is the continuing epic saga of my basket case.
It is a 1996 Chevy Blazer 4.3 W , 4x4, 4 door, LS.

I have been methodicly replacing common trouble parts and not so common repairs as well.
This next one is a not so common repair.:eek7:
And I need everyones help.
I own a Haynes manual for this vehicle but it seems that they assume that every vehicle has a floor shift mounted shift cable.
I have purchased a new cable the old one is streched beyond use.
Problem is I do not have clear instructions for replacing the cable.
My cable is mounted on my steering column.:eek7:
The manual calls for pulling the cable into the cabin from the center console.
I have been scouring the forums and the web for a DIY I had once come across before.
SO, how to do this for the column mounted cable?
I swore that I read that I must remove the drivers seat to do this.
It is a power seat and of course I am nervous as hell.
Again this is somthing I have never done before.
So any help or suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

The '97 Factory Service Manual says the seat has to be removed.
The picture shows the shift cable running under the carpet and going through the floor just in front of the seat. Look under the car and judge where it comes through the floor.
If you can pull the carpet back enough to expose the shift cable going through the floor then it looks like you'd be OK.
The lower dash panel and steering column covers have to be removed to access the shifter connection.

Thanks for the heads up.
I thought I was gonna have to remove the seat.
I also must apologize for the question in the first place. :sorry:
I somehow missed the entire section on the shift cable installation in my manual.( brainfart )
I have been working on alot of stuff on my Blazer especailly lately.
And it had me pretty stressed out.:runaround:
So I took a step back and looked at it with some fresh eyes and lots of coffee.:grinyes:
Now I may be back with later questions on setting the "detent" of the shifter if the cable does not clear up the problem completely .
I am not sure that I saw that particular "how to" anywhere in the manual.
I have read that I must drop the steering column to get to that adjustment correct?
Is this even necessary or even an available repair on this model?
All I have is a haynes manual. heheh.
Thanks again.

EUREKA!!
Ok I got the cable in and adjusted correctly ( Or so I believe )
It seems to me that it is awful easy to slip the shifter from overdrive to neutral.
It may be because I am not used to having a vehicle I do not have to crawl under to shift.
Quick question:
Is there anything that may cause the shifter to feel kinda "soft" to the touch from neutral to overdrive, and vice-versa?
