View Full Version : Tranny Overhaul Tranny Overhaul amodea1 02-05-2008, 02:00 AM 72chevelleOhio 02-05-2008, 05:59 AM My problem is that ihave no idea when(if at all) the transmission was last serviced, and i have been told that if its been a while that if i get it done the thing might start to slip or other problems to be uncovered. any thoughts, sudjestions, comments, criticisms, cries of outrage? there are so many opinions/recomendations about trans service, any one could start a lengthy arguement. However, If you pull the trans dipstick and see the sparklies of metal all in it and its dark and smells burnt. Don't bother changing it, its done for. chubbybubba1 02-06-2008, 12:15 AM What are you gonna do? Just get it serviced assuming that most people don't give a crap about there rides and they don't put a cent into them. Get the tranny serviced and hope for the best. Just pick a good shop. Not a Grease Monkey or Jiffy Lube. Those monkeys will jack your crap up because they haven't a clue or a lick of common sense. skibum1111 02-06-2008, 10:32 AM Not a Grease Monkey or Jiffy Lube. Those monkeys will jack your crap up because they haven't a clue or a lick of common sense. If they even do the work. I watched a video today of 9 Jiffy Lube shops in socal, 3 of them actually did the service they billed for, the other 6 didn't. Best one was the trans flush, they never even moved the machine. amodea1 02-07-2008, 02:09 AM yeah ok, thanks guys, im in middle georgia so i dont even know of any reputable places round here, most of it is private business, but we got some kewl old farts that know their shit. the fluid looks good though, looks like it had been changed less than 5k ago. so ill prolly leave it alone. shifts fine and doesnt slip at all. thanks Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
