1989 Toyota Camry (Fuel Pump Location)userpete1037 02-03-2008, 07:06 PM Can you get to the fuel pump by taking the rear seat out or do I have to lower the tank? Brian R. 02-03-2008, 09:19 PM You have to lower the tank (after you disconnect the negative battery terminal) userpete1037 02-04-2008, 01:14 AM Thanks. I appreciate the response. JOET/CAMRY 03-16-2008, 10:32 PM Hey I have an 86 camry it starts for 5 seconds then dies. No matter what I replaced the fuel filter, relays, tune up. any thought. toyotabill A similar issue happened to me when I owned a 1985 Camry. the car would start up and idle but if I put it in gear or if I would try to rev the engine the car engine would die. it would start right up though.:shakehead after replacing many, many, many parts on it :frown: I was in the process of replacing the fuel pump and discovered the electronic fuel pump had a 99% clogged fuel strainer/filter on it. once I replaced the filter/strainer the problem solved. I had to drop the gas tank to get at the electronic fuel pump. no access to it by removing the back seat.:banghead: Hopefully you won't have to drop the gas tank. What a PITA job that was.:frown: Good luck with your car. Regards, JOET/CAMRY vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
