swaping a 95 camaro tranny in 95 capricenorcal70782 02-02-2008, 10:46 PM i have a 95 caprice that needs a tranny and i can get the tranny from a 95 camaro for $100 . i know the camaro has a 5.7 lt1 and a 4l6oe tranny , so will everything hook up with no problem?? Blue Bowtie 02-02-2008, 11:15 PM The VSS may be different (axle ratio) but the rest should be a direct exchange. 96capricemgr 02-03-2008, 10:32 AM Swap the tailshaft housing and the TC cover setup will be different because they are different cases. norcal70782 02-03-2008, 01:42 PM r u sure about the tail shaft? so what are you saying about the tc cover?? 96capricemgr 02-03-2008, 05:14 PM Tell you what. You have at it and tell us. Blue Bowtie 02-03-2008, 08:17 PM Hmm. I wasn't aware of the tailshaft differences on the cars, only the trucks (and obviously the 4WDs). I thought the input bell was the same bolt-on for all SBCs, no? I know the 262 V6 has no inspection cover, but do Camaro V-8s use a similar setup? I know the converters vary in diameter. Enlighten me. I've been in a few of these and I guess I never paid that much attention to the outside. silicon212 02-03-2008, 09:02 PM The difference is on the output tail cones on these - if I am not mistaken. The Camaro uses a different style rear trans mount than the avg. 4L60E. 96capricemgr 02-03-2008, 10:12 PM Different tranny mount and provisions for a torque arm. The converters are the same diameter just a little different stall. The inspection cover is supposed to be a little different plastic and small screws instead of sheetmetal and bolts, just make sure to get that cover with the tranny. The b-body uses a "K" case which is the same as the trucks, the f-body case was a little different only hassle about it should be the inspection cover and the tailshaft housing though. The tailshaft housing I have first hand knowledge of as I have an example of each in my garage, the inspection cover is just something my tranny guy told me about. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
