the continuing metro electrical disastercarpenter_jai 01-31-2008, 11:05 AM I have been missing the lights in my instrument cluster for some time, since I had the car dismantled this summer. I finally, in 30 below weather, got around to checking it out. I had the instrument cluster out to find that several of the bulbs had actually fallen out. I replaced these, soldered a bad connection and tested for dead bulbs and popped the cluster back in place. All my instrument lights work now, including the shift up light (never seen that before-not that I will use it). Only one problem, the backlights, (ie, the 3 large green bulbs) are still not lighting up. This is a cluster with tach that I got from the parts yard last year. The original had no tach. I thought my problem was in the junction block, so I replaced it (again) but that hasn't helped. At this point, I have the following lights not working: -Green back lights in the instrument cluster. -Heater control light -Defrost indicator (I think that the defrost isn't working either, but in the past when it gets this cold it doesn't do much anyway. -Park lights (orange), Can anyone think of why these areas are not working? Could they be related to the circuit that the headlights operate on? I still haven't fixed that problem either, though I've tried and tried... Jai Crvett69 01-31-2008, 08:36 PM sounds like you either have a fuse out or a bad headlight switch or the clearance lights are burned out and you have a bad dimmer switch for the inside lights or its turned down to far vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
