... a car is going to be repoed. My sister has this car and the tranny went out on it and she bought anew one for $2000..The car is going to be repoed pretty soon and I was wondering if its legal to take the tranny out and sell it for $1000.

Thanks

Not sure if it's legal or not. But I can tell you that in MD,not sure aboutanywhere else, when a car is repoed it goes to auction. Whatever the lender gets for the car subtracted from what was left on the loan YOU are still responsible for paying. For example vehicle is worth say 7000, only get 5000 at auction, you still have to pay the 2000 difference.

In Ohio, if you are still making payments, you are NOT allowed to modify the car, because technicly, the bank/dealership owns it. And repo cars go to auction, and the person it was repod from STILL has to make up the differance owed.
