Hello,
First off thanks for any help.
I have a 94 passport 4X4 with a 3.2 v6. The engine has a very rough idle and will occasionally stall at idle. Under acceleration it coughs and sputters until around 2500-3000 rpm then it tries to take off. As soon as the tranny shifts it sputters again. It can only do about 60 mph floored. Dont know whats wrong. So far I have replaced all the coils and wires, fuel filter, MAP and IAC. I have sprayed carb cleaner around the intake and vacuum lines with no change in idle. Thanks again for any help.

check the intake to make sure it is clear.

I'd pull plugs to see if it is cylinder specific.

Are the replaced coils all good?

The symptoms sound like mine when one coil went bad. Also happened with a friend's Rodeo. Can you pull codes?

Ok, update
All the new coils are working, no issues there. However the miss is still there. Pulled out the before cat o2 sensor with no change to the running, shouldn't this have changed the running? Also could this be the timing belt, tensioner problem that this engine is notorious for? Intake is clear with no leaks around the gasket. Im stumped.:crying:

Also still no CEL but the bulb for it is working as seen during start up.
Kinda thinking o2 since when it first starts, during the high reving time when the engine is cold, runs great. As soon as the idle kicks down, it starts acting up with the sputtering
Thoughts anyone.

I'd agree that it sounds sensor related with those symptoms. A code or some live data would sure help narrow it down, though.

Hey, I've got the same truck and had the same issues... did you ever figure out what the problem was? Please email back if you have, thanks.
