94 Rodeo occasionaly diesmixedgrip 01-25-2008, 05:49 PM My son's 94 Rodeo has died a few times lately. It has been in the morning after it has warmed up. He will be driving to work and it may just die. It happens as he is driving. He pulls over and it starts right up again. This has only happened a few times but we are trying to get a handle on the possible causes. Any ideas out there? Jim 660Ryder 01-25-2008, 06:08 PM What have you tried thus far? I had a stalling problem - I cleaned out the airbox (mouse nest or something) and installed a new fuel filter (easy 10 minute job). That took care of the stalling problem. Any dash lights illuminated or other symptoms that might help us narrow it down? BigCity 01-26-2008, 11:42 AM I had a similar problem with my 99 Rodeo. The stalling was very random and I spent months trying to figure it out. For me, it was the fuel pressure relay randomly failing so I would suggest getting a new one. They are not expensive, easy to replace, and can't be easily tested. mixedgrip 01-26-2008, 06:24 PM Thanks. That makes sense. I had him switch relays to test it out. Most of the relays are the same part number. He switched the relay for the fuel pressure with the AC relay. He didn't figure he would need that one for a few weeks with the current temperatures in Wichita. We will see how it goes. If it doesn't stall he will just get a new relay for the AC. Thanks again, Jim Isuzuworshipper 02-04-2008, 08:37 PM I had a similar problem with my 99 Rodeo. The stalling was very random and I spent months trying to figure it out. I'm having the same problem with my 93 Rodeo. It only happens after the car is warm and there is no rhyme or reason to it except when it decelerates to a stop. I would like to try the relay. Is the pressure relay right next to the A/C relay? BigCity 02-07-2008, 07:27 PM I'm having the same problem with my 93 Rodeo. Check your relay box diagram. For mine, 99 Rodeo V6, it is. Linn 02-08-2008, 12:03 AM Hey guys, Really dumb question. I also a 94 Isuzu Rodeo (3.2 liter) and within the past few weeks I have started to have a rough idle. I had the fuel injectors and fuel system cleaned at the local quick lube. The rough idle went away then returned viciously... I then removed the EGR valve and cleaned it with carb cleaner and pipe cleaners. I also replaced some cracked vaccum hoses. The rough idle calmed but was still there. After a week, not only did it idle rough but a vibration or shimmy started while maintaining certain speeds (most notably 45 mph), excelleration seems fine. Just idle and maintain speed. I swaped out the idle air control, and I must admit the old one was truly gummed up. It is better, but not 100%. Since last September, I have had the plugs and plug wires changed out. I also had the belts, timing belt, and water pump replaced in december. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Linn 02-08-2008, 09:11 AM What kind of spark plugs are you using?? How old is your fuel filter, and are you using GOOD quality gas - always?? The fuel filter was replace about 3 years ago, so that was my next idea of what to change out. I typically use shell gas 87 or 89 octane. As far as the sparkplugs, I suspect they are champion, I had them changed at an Isuzu-Mazda dealership. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
