There is a tsb out on not to change a transfer case to synthetic. And if the transmission has had dexron all of it life I would stay with it. MT valvoline max life is synthetic. they guaruntee it too be better than standard. they guaruntee its longevity. its an amazing product that the company stands behind. as far as all else is concerned, mobil 1, and amsoil diff fluid. thats my thoughts. i have reasons to stand behind my opinoins. any questions, just ask MT-2500 01-25-2008, 01:35 PM valvoline max life is synthetic. they guaruntee it too be better than standard. they guaruntee its longevity. its an amazing product that the company stands behind. as far as all else is concerned, mobil 1, and amsoil diff fluid. thats my thoughts. i have reasons to stand behind my opinoins. any questions, just ask It may be good stuff but you need to be careful where you use it. IT MAY BE THE WRONG STUFF IN A LOT OF APPLACATIONS. A lot safer and better to go with what the Manufacture says to use. MT readallen 01-25-2008, 07:24 PM -can? and -how? would i switch back to regular if for some reason; also i have been told that you should not switch back because of some type of coating it puts on the parts, and that the two types will not mix to a homogeneous oil. ericn1300 01-25-2008, 08:12 PM Why would you want to change over? Your vehicle was designed for the lubricants the manufactor recomends. I get 250K to 300K on my GMs before i sell them using the GM recomended fluids and change intervals. If synths were cost effective then all the major fleet operators such as FedEx, UPS and the USPS would be ordering their vehicles and maintaning them with synths but they don't. lilloon 01-27-2008, 12:37 AM If synths were cost effective then all the major fleet operators such as FedEx, UPS and the USPS would be ordering their vehicles and maintaning them with synths but they don't.[/quote] do your research buddy. all eaton, axles, roadrager transmissions, and what else you want me to list? ya, the rear ends require syn, the trannys have a 60k miles change interval, as per eaton road ranger, with reg oils. and guess what? its 500 with synthetic. its on their site, and in the rebuild manuals. u want a link? heres the link for the axle lubes http://www.roadranger.com/Roadranger/productssolutions/copyright/index.htm heres the change interval as suggested by the manufacturer. http://www.roadranger.com/Roadranger/productssolutions/copyright/lubricantchangeintervalquickreferencechart/index.htm fleets? i know a little about fleets since i was the sole mechanic on a fleet of 23 class 7 and 8 trucks and trailers. synthet IS better, which is also why gm uses it in their hp engines such as the corvettes. and as far as recommended intervals per gm? at 10k miles my car said it had 32% oil life remaining. sorry. not going that long, even tho i do use mobil one and it would probably be ok. if yer gonna make a referance to fleets, try working on them so you have a solid base to your opinion. or just read what the manufacturer ACTUALLY says before quoting them. and just in case you dont know what eaton roadranger is, they make almost ever single non-light duty axle and transmission, the other major one is rockwell-meritor, you can check them out as well, im sure its about the same. lilloon 01-27-2008, 12:42 AM oh, and btw, synthetic is within what gm recommends. it only has to meet the weight and api rating. thats all. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
