Which car has the highest fuel economy & safety & performance?

Ususally a vehicle that really performs gets lower fuel economy when compared to an economy car, which is less safe when compared to a 5-star crash rated car.

Which cars (if any) offer excellent #'s in all three categories?

For example: VW Golf TDI $17,000 US
0-60=8 seconds
MPG=45
Safety=4-star

Z06 will run the 1/4 in the low 12 range all day, get 20/30 mpg and in literal crash tests it got good all around, ignoring those stupid "its the most dangerous car on the road" reports based on bullshit.

That sounds awesome! What a good way to justify buying a Z06... and owners here on AF that can verify the MPG?

my friend had an 89 vette that got 4mpg with the gas pinned in 2nd and up to 45+ mpg with the car in 6th gear cruising at aroud 95 on the highway.(it has a digital read out to tell you mpg, like the old lincoln towncars) it's all in how you drive it. i got my maxima(6.2 0-60) to get 38 mpg coming all the way up the garden state prkwy/I-87, but i can get it as low as 15-17 mpg, if not lower, driving around racing and going WOT

I know that the VR4 will only get about 24mpg but one of the guys with one was hit broadside by a Semi at 40 mph (the semi ran a red - sleeping driver). Disintegrated the car. He had a broken leg and rib with a few cuts and bruises, but otherwise he was fine. I dont know what the crash rating is, but thats a ringing endorsement for the car in my book.

Very aware of the fact it is near-identical to the latest Vectra :D The new Vectra has an excellent chassis- Chevrolet could learn a lot from thier German cousins :D

It's a Low Pressure Turbo in a Luxury sedan-= which is reasonably decent- once the Aero comes with a High Pressure Turbo- We will see some proper times

Yes- but deep down I know that the Malibu will be a softer car than the Vectra all together- perhaps it's the fact the springs will be softened to cope witha Americas somewhat rough roads- But then again considering the blob the current Malibu is- it won't be hard to better the current model.

It's probably th ebest sedan in it's market, cheaper then both of nissans offerings, performance is of no matter because it's a FWD family sedan, attempting to make it fast is stupid. It's as reliable as anything else it competes with, i suppose the styling could turn you off but that goes for the whole family sedan market, the altima is probably the only one that actually looks like *something*

That is true- But then again- the American FWD saloon market has quietened down greatly with the SUV/Minivan boom. Cars like the Accrod, Sebring and Camry aren't exactly cars to set ones soul on fire. But It rather contrasts with the European market- where this segment is alive and well.
