View Full Version : 94 Sentra Help 94 Sentra Help CHRIST75 01-21-2008, 01:24 PM I got a question, even that I've driven this car before i can't remember the answer. When i turn the ignition key to acc all the lights on the dash turn on , the check engine light turns on but stays on , should it be this way and it will reset when the car stars ? ( my car right now rotates but doesn't start so i can't confirm this ) or it's throwing a code and it may be the reason why it doesn't start. In my 93 mitsubishi when i do the same the Check engine light will turn on for the self test but it will go away after few seconds. Also if any one have the codes for this car would be great. MY CAR : A 94 NISSAN SENTRA XE 1.6 WITH GA16 ENGINE, FOUR CYLINDERS AND AUTO TRANS. Thanks for your help. Chris. slideways... 01-21-2008, 04:26 PM they all should go away when the car starts. its normal for a bunch of lights to be on while the car is in ACC. but this doesnt mean that your CEL isnt on and it may be the cause of the no-start. get it scanned. vgames33 01-21-2008, 10:57 PM 94 is OBD1. You'll have to scan it yourself. 1. Turn the ignition switch on, but do not start the engine. All of the lights in the dash should be on. 2. Turn the 'diagnostic mode selector' screw on the ECU fully clockwise. The check engine light will go out. Wait 5 seconds, then turn the screw fully counter clockwise. 3. The check engine light will then begin to flash the trouble code. (number of long flashes is the 1st digit, number of short flashes is the 2nd digit) 4. To clear all stored codes and turn the check engine light off, turn the screw fully clockwise. Wait 5 seconds, then turn the screw fully counter clockwise. 5. To keep the codes stored, simply turn the key off as the check engine light is flashing and the ECU will keep all stored codes and the check engine light will remain on. CHRIST75 01-24-2008, 08:39 PM Hey vgames33 Thanks a lot, something like that should be on the sticky files, just another question, what would it be for the 100's numbers? will light be off to indicate the zero ? And if there are more than one code how would it be? What Sentra do you have ? Thanks for your help ! Chris. Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
