92 tracker idles too fast and has white smoke

Does anyone know why a 92 tracker would on occation has white smoke? Also it has started to idle too high. Once warmed up it idles down some but not enough.

What is the most likely problem? It doesn't over heat like a head gasket and only smokes maybe once a week after say a 4 mile highway trip. The idling though hasn't been right for a couple of weeks.

does it smoke all the time, or just sometimes, mostly after taking off from a stoplight? Could possibly be your transmission vacuum modulator leaking, it will allow trans fluid into the cylinders which will then burn off and pour white smoke through the exhaust. Just replaced mine, make sure you get the vacuum line back on right!

I think you solved my problem! Thanks so much...i was about ready to spring for a new head gasket which i didn't think it was but didn't know of anything else.
